Welding could be good agreed. Electrician too. Try and find a trade where you can get the schooling a reasonable cost or be an apprentice for a couple of years. A trading buddy of mine is a retired elevator service repair technician. Also survey the landscape and estimate how many illegals have taken over the general field. Not discriminatory, no joke. Drive to a construction site and they even do drywall now.
P.S. Stay away from ITT technical inst. They promise the world and deliver mostly $12 an hour jobs. You can Google the article done about them recently.
