If you just received 5 million dollars

....For the first time in my life i would buy Muni's and and possibly a Short term CD......and i would never work again...Pay off the mtg. live of interest and watch the grass grow

I would like to tell a little secret, but I doubt that anyone would believe it...

having money of that magnitude does not come by accident, and if it does you will never be able to keep it in the first place...

It is be - do - have and not about have - do - be like most people think. If having the money is the first thing on your list and then what you are going to do whit it the second thing and finally what you are as last, then keep on dreaming.
If you on the other hand first choose to be and then do the things you need to do, you will have the things you desire and in this case the 5 million dollar.

That was well thought out and well said........Now if any other ET members know what the hell he just said, please feel free to translate:confused:

Nothing is up. I'm pretty happy right now, and doing
very well. However, if I didnt have to work at all,
I would be MORE happy because I would have the freedom
to do what is MOST fun to me all the time.

Simple logic really. If I could trade fulltime, I would be happier
as well. Although trading is a LOT of work, it's work I
enjoy more than my current job.

I still don't have the confidence to come up with new
systems fast enough to keep pace with the markets, so
I will continue working until I reach that level of confidence.
I figure it will take years.

In any case, 5 million cash would completely change my life.
Money is a FUN enabling technology as far as i'm concerned.
If someone dropped 5 million in cash in my lap tomorrow,
I would spend the rest of my life having serious fun instead
of busting my ass trying to get to that point and sneaking
some fun in at the same time.

My work to fun ratio would completely invert.
Who WOULDNT want that??? :D

hey axe, what's up man

I don't know, I'm a lot happier poor and learning to trade than I was rich and entombed in an investment bank. is it work if you're having fun?

I've known people who were trapped by their money too.

Maybe if I had 5 million in my lap, I could fund my friends' artwork. That's a tough industry.

my first thought was how much will I have left after the government takes what it wants. Have you seen what they do to lottery winners? They take their cut right off the top.

After taxes, I figure I would have about 3 million left.

I'd randomly spend $50,000 of it on myself and my friends, clothes, electronics, trips, parties, etc. in the first year.

I'd give $50,000 out as christmas/birthday gifts.

I'd put $500,000 in a charitable trust account and use it for college scholarships and local charities.

I'd pay cash for a waterfront condo

I'd invest the rest in about 50% muni bonds, 50% gold and platinum bullion.

I think he means, do what you love and the money will come.

Or, something like that.

What do you do when what you love doesnt pay anything? :D

The same thing 99% of the rest of the people in the world do - something else.

EXACTLY. We go work at a J.O.B. when we would rather
be doing something fun. This is precisely where that
5 million comes in handy :D

I cannot make a living, (not even close), doing what I LOVE
to do. So I must work.

No... money can't directly buy happiness, but it sure as
hell raises the probablility :D

On the other hand, if im gonna be sad and depressed all
the time, might as well do it at my sweet pad with the
ocean view, and my ferrari in the garage , being served
healthy meals by my chef every day :D

Thats certainly better than being sad and derpessed in
the ghetto, eating McDonalds every night.
