No offense, but all that hype about no state income taxes, they just make you pay in other ways.

For example, my friend lives in Ft. Lauderdale, not on the beach either, and he is paying 10k a year on a 500k house for property taxes and insurance. My nice house in Denver Metro is $3700 a year for the same. Granted my house is not worth 500k, but you get the picture. Other ppl I talked to in Miami are getting screwed on homeowners insurance as well.

Don't get me wrong, I have thought about a vacation high rise condo in Panama City, just for warm water access, just have to look at the big picture cost, not a simple savings on state taxes.

about the property taxes, yes true, but that also depends on how much you make as the no state income tax gets more attractive the higher up you are.

youre right, except for the hurricanes all summer.

even the threat of hurricanes making you board up the house with hurricane shutters and then taking them down when nothing happens, only to put them right back up again the next week...

I miss it, but those 4 hurricanes that hit a couple summers ago destroyed any idea of living there long term for me

new development comes with impact resistant windows and garage doors so, all you need to do is stock up .. :-)

See the thing is in order to get a woman like this you have to work for it, have some skills and be able to interest her in you. All this is not necessary when you go to Thailand. There just be being American and or European you will get laid. Of course if you buy her a breakfast or throw couple dollars her way she would worship you hoping you will take her out of her misery. Sad :( :(

Again , you have no clue, you keep talking of things you don't know, things you never experienced, things you heard or read on some tabloid.
You talk of exceptions as they were the norm.
There are areas where people is very poor and surely a "rich" westerner is a target for gold diggers. That happens in any developing country (brazil, cuba, DR, Mex, Hungary etc)
This is a very small percentage and not the norm.

They gather around tourist areas obviously, like the infamous Pattaya.
Some tourists go to Thailand for 2 weeks, what do you expect, to find the love of your life in 2 weeks?
Locals although very polite and friendly don't want to be involved in a long relationship with tourists, for obvious reasons
When you are a resident, you have the opportunity to meet "regular" people with a job, an education etc.

Thailand is not Pattaya, heck is like going to Las Vegas and thinking " geez, the US is a gambler and whoremonger paradise".

Do you think you don't have prostitution and gold diggers in the US? Think again, just different prices and different ambitions.

I'm not the one who says western women are ugly or bad by the way. I'd take a piece of those sweeties in Miami any day :D, just no plastic boobs thanks :p

Punta Pacifica

Ahh those are the new houses they built past Paitilla going towards the airport right? Nice new homes they are building out there.

Have you had troubles with mosquitos. I remember looking at some of the sites when it was just the roads and dirt plots and it was a bit marshy due to the fill they put down to extend the land.

Nice view by the way...

I have a business base in PC and I need to touch base with my Attorney from time to time and also keep an eye on RE.

Also we are off to Cuba for the first time, LA and a few other spots but intend spending 2-3 months in panamà all told.

If you dont mind me asking which attorney or firm you are using. Familiair with a bunch of firms down there and just curious.
