If you apply to 759 jobs and get 0 is it you or the jobmarket?

Quote from pitz:

I think everyone was in complete denial back in 2001. The lack of jobs for grads was just temporary. Things would improve, "next year". Google would grow enough to hire literally everyone cast off by the rest of the sector. Techies who can't find jobs are just 'unemployed losers', 'whiners', and 'self-entitled'. Microsoft/Google/Cisco must have hired all the domestic talent, since they've resorted to hiring foreigners!

If the problems in the tech industry had been properly addressed back in 1999, it is very unlikely that the economy would have devolved into this sort of mess. The complete mismanagement of the latest mess, dealing with the banks, and the propping up of unsustainable firms, is going to ensure that the finance industry never recovers to health. In short, we're scr*wed, and people are quickly realizing that the fault lies not in their own efforts, to live honourable lives, to manage their affairs well, and to give 110%, but rather in the leadership. Its an unescapable conclusion.

That's a whole lot of excuses, right there.

Here's a newsflash: the whole job market has gone to crap. Tech is no exception. Is it more hard hit then construction? Banking? Financial services? Real estate?? Customer service? Manufacturing???

Look around. We've lost 9 million jobs in the past 3 years. For the last decade? Who knows.

Stop acting like Tech is special. That tech is more hard-done-by, that you're more hard-done-by, than anyone else. You're not.

It's the millions of people who swallowed their pride and settled for a paycheck, who are paying your way. So you don't have to settle.

Time to man up, kid.

I disagree, what pitz is revealing is that aside from his bullshit, is there are a portion of American Grads from top 50 schools or whatever, aren't willing to compete with foreigners because of (a) sense of entitlement, (b) lack skills (educational, technical or people skills), (c) prefers to blame it on exterior factors (economy, government, corporations), (d) all of the above.

This type of attitude is very similar to how our politician act towards its citizens, foreign governments, and to its own system.

Personally, I would rather hire a street hustler at the projects at Detroit over a grad like pitz. Reason being as long as a person is willing to learn and better themselves they tend to exceed at their job positions. And the people who have a high sense of entitlement and "think that they are all that" does everything half assed.

It's like hiring Joe the Plumber that kept following McCain around or hiring the Mexican at Home Depot to change your toilet. A pretty simple task, and you're paying them 759 bucks. I guarantee the Mexican can do a better job than Joe.

I'm afraid that if the way things are progressing as it is now and more grads start thinking like pitz, The United States of America will lose its Capitalistic/Competitive Spirit, and that would be the final straw that breaks the camel's back. :(

Yo homie, Americans can do the jobs better than other people and they should be paid better. That kid with a sense of entitlement will perform once he gets a bad job evaluation and adjust, if indeed his attitude is effecting him. We aren't born good workers. But then again, there are most definately performers out there out of college. There just aren't jobs here man. Yeah we could put our kids to work at an early age instead of educating them and they would be great plumbers, but let's not go down that road there's definately a better solution than beating the crap outta our kids. My kids at least will play high school sports have a decent college life. You can beat yours with a belt, if that is your thing. They may then be very docile and humble blah blah. And they will most likely bore the crap out of me so leave them in your cellar or something where they can do the plumbing...

Wow! pitz has never had a real job but he owns a nicely restored Jaguar E-type and an early 1990s Oldsmobile. Do you think that he got all these nice toys because of the system he claims to have. You know, the one where he only has to work 20 minutes everyday to suck enough cash out of the market to pay for his playboy lifestyle.

lol.. an early 1990s olds is worth $400, and a jaguar e-type is worth $15k to $25k. he's really balling!

the only p*ssy you can get with an e-type is a 60 year old chick. attractive young women go for late-model cars only

I think that's already the case.

Government handouts used to be shunned out of pride and a desire not to impose a burden on society.

Now, Americans lose their jobs and the first thing they do is run to Government. They couldn't care less they're a burden on taxpayers. As far as the desire to remain self-sufficient? lol. Screw it. I bet most of these kids on UI still live with their parents and collect a paycheck. Who cares, right ? It's free money.

Time to change the UI system. It's another dead weight on the economy.

You do not really think that pitz would brag about a $400 car do you? He is obviously a fan of cars that could have vintage value and he buys them because he believes that in time they will increase in price. Apparently, this guys who has never had a real job, trades only 20 minutes everyday, makes enough to support himself, get pussy, and collects cars as a hobby. That is quite a way to live. To put the icing on the cake, he is pissed with how bad his life is.

There just aren't jobs here man.

So the economy dealt us a bad hand. I can understand if he is like 45-55 years old and say there aren't jobs. But he is still young enough to reinvent himself by learning more skills that makes him more employable. Nope, fuck that... just blame the H1B's for all his problems. I know outsourcing took a lot of jobs, but it didn't take ALL the jobs. To top it off, not only is he unemployed, BUT he thinks he is too good for other jobs such as clerk, making pizza's, sewing, or even to relocate for that tech support job.

Meanwhile, on my end of the stick, taxes are getting raised to the roof cause pitz needs to put food on the table.

Europeans and Japanese make great workers too. They have better cars than us.

This girl graduated with an MA in marketing in 07 has has not been able to land a job in 3 years .

So do you think the problem is the person or the market. It is like those people who go through 5 divorces, at some point it aint the people you chose to marry.

She is 29, Graduated in 07 making her 26 when she graduated.

8 years in college??? for an MA in marketing?

It is obvious that if you apply to 759 jobs and get 0 it is YOU.

To not immediately see the answer to this question, also means it's YOU.
