If you apply to 759 jobs and get 0 is it you or the jobmarket?

I'm glad to hear you were being sarcastic.

I'm not the only one who took you seriously BTW and your comment was on par with others have posted about Buffett from their mothers' basements :p

I WAS going to put a link to some sites claiming 200% returns per month via a forex robot, but I thought I'd get accused of spamming ;)

That would be a BAD month for Jack Hershey with his "Pool Extraction Paradigm" :p

Yeah, you grow up, fag. Add something useful to the thread, or get lost, idiot. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, and your comments directed towards people such as the young lady who is the topic of the original post, who, for no fault of her own, is down on her luck.

Are you currently looking for a job?

Quote from pitz:

Its not a matter of stupidity. Its a matter of American businesses not feeling they need to hire top-notch talent, when cheap 'barely good enough' will do.

Look, I own a nicely restored Jaguar E-type, and a early 1990s Oldsmobile. Guess which one gets used for long drives out of state, and which one gets used when I'm trying to pick up the local p*ssy?

And without a robust 'consumer economy', there is no demand for 'marketing', so the girl, unfortunately, will probably only be good for making babies in the future. But the sort of damage that has been inflicted on America's science, technology, and manufacturing professionals will have a deep and long-lasting impact on America's ability to compete once all this financial nonsense has been purged out of the system.

Wow! pitz has never had a real job but he owns a nicely restored Jaguar E-type and an early 1990s Oldsmobile. Do you think that he got all these nice toys because of the system he claims to have. You know, the one where he only has to work 20 minutes everyday to suck enough cash out of the market to pay for his playboy lifestyle.

Here's my take. I think that if I could go back in time, I would do things differently and I wouldn't have taken crappy jobs (I graduated in Dec 2001). I would have moved in with my parents like she did. I would start a home business or something. I would have tolerated my parents. She's lucky she doesn't have a job. Having a job is overrated.

But not overskilled wage slaves. Which might be part of my (and the girl with the MA in the earlier message's) problem.

Its pretty simple math. The US workforce has not expanded since 2000. Job growth in the low-skilled portion of the US workforce has been very rapid. Hence, one can conclude that growth in the high skilled portion of the US workforce has been low, if not negative.

Silicon Valley went from being 90% white males in the tech workforce a decade ago, to only 50-60% today. What does that say about the chances of a white male getting a tech job in Silicon Valley in the past decade? Very low chances.

A few people have posted here, claiming I'm lying, claiming that there's something wrong with me, claiming that they don't know anyone unemployed (even though the unemployment rate is easily close to 20%), etc. But the numbers don't lie. The tech industry, in particular, has been caught in a deflationary death spiral ever since 2000, with no clear signs of abatement. The rest of the economy seems to be following suit.

Welfare is net drain on productivity and job creation. Business owners and employees have to carry the jobless on their backs via taxes, which otherwise could have gone to increased consumption (jobs), or additional operating capital (from which to invest, or expand existing business = more jobs).

The argument that college grads should sit tight and collect welfare until their degrees can be put to good use is an insult to anyone who's ever worked a day in their life. You actually think somebody else should pay your rent and living expenses because you don't want to bus tables or deliver pizza?!?!? No wonder you haven't found a job. You're lazy, man.

While I agree, the American job market is toast and H1B visas really screwed it for the IT grads, guess what? It's not gonna change. This is the new normal.

America outsourced huge swaths of it's manufacturing, service and IT base. We lost over 9 million jobs last recession. They're not coming back. You need to get over that sense of entitlement, swallow your pride, get a job, or make your own (start a company). Stop expecting a handout. You sound like these moron Democrats who thought Obama would pay their mortgages and gasoline. Honestly, the economy and Country is going down the tubes but when there's jobs to be had, the able bodied and sound of mind (that's you) ought to be working them. It sounds like you're just making excuses to sit at home and collect a paycheck.

Yeah right... And you claim that I don't know what I'm talking about... What a load of BS.

It is time to put pitz (more like, PUTZ) on ignore. A tech person who could not find a job in 2003-2008 is basically someone on the reject pile. I know many tech people, experienced and new grads, who were aggressively chased by recruiters for positions during this period.

For instance, I suck at sewing. My girlfriend sucks at computers. Hence, in the household, I do all the computer stuff, and she does all the sewing. But if we equally split the sewing duties and the computer duties, the cumulative sum of our efforts would be less than they would be if we each did what we exceled at.

He can't do any other job aside from IT, otherwise he would be a gasp... *communist* :D
