If you apply to 759 jobs and get 0 is it you or the jobmarket?

the statement that the best and brightest were displaced by h1bs is a prima facie ridiculous statement. US people with little on the job experience except for summer internships are hired every year.

pitz if you couldn't find a job with a supposedly good GPA from a supposedly good school, then the problem is you. (and let's be real, everyone thinks their school is a top 10 school, but they're not.)

i know dozens of people employed in tech now and only 2 who are not working. a few were laid off but found jobs eventually. one of the unemployed guys isn't working because he's a stubborn mofo who is holding out for the same $150k/year job he lost 1 year ago.

the tech companies i worked for hired 100+ engineers from 2001 to 2007 (when i left the field), and 1/3 were college grads. i personally interviewed dozens of candidates and i know some of them were hired. wtf are you talking about? if you think nobody was hiring engineers last decade then the problem is you thinking you're better than you really are.

I know some major companies in NYC are going to either outsource their entire IT departments to India or hire H1B to replace the layoffs later this year as a way to reduce labor costs. They have already closed their software development departments last year.

This girl graduated with an MA in marketing in 07 has has not been able to land a job in 3 years .

So do you think the problem is the person or the market. It is like those people who go through 5 divorces, at some point it aint the people you chose to marry.

She is 29, Graduated in 07 making her 26 when she graduated.

8 years in college??? for an MA in marketing?
What kind of jobs you (err... "she") are applying to?
Top jobs are not hiring, they are mostly firing
so there's a lot of competition.

Maybe there's a job at the gas station?
Or strip club?

Or strip club?

Even strip clubs are going to get whacked. A fundamental Christian Republican state senator, here in Missouri, has rammed through a strip club and adult business bill through the state legislature that will put many strippers out of work!

The USA is sick

They don't have any benefits for the private sector employees. Yet one of the highest debt loads of western countries.

Why?

Because they privatized the private sector, and socialised the government sector. Bailout for the rich. Lower taxes for rich, but granting more money to government employees. All because this is made possible by debt and credit. Eventually this house of cards is gonna fail and lead to the collapse of US

THE US ARMY ARE ALSO GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES

GET IT

THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, AKA THE "BANKERS/ILLUMINATI/ REPTILIANS" ARE IN CHARGE

Doesn't have to do much with how smart American are or aren't.
You can now get an Indian or Chinese slave to do many American jobs either offshore or inshore.

They may or may not be better but they are much easier to manage and control and it's good for the bottom line and for management bonuses.

It's gotten to a point that there are now many Indian/Chinese headhunters working in the US facilitating the process.

Also once an Indian gets to a junior management position and as some say on hiring, Americans can pretty much forget about working there, not when there so many relatives and friends in India.

I have seen this happen time and time again.

I personally have no idea what would fix the economy, but having a decade worth of grads unemployed or under-employed is definitely a major problem. These are the people who need to be employed in order to support the housing market, the stock market, etc., and to develop exports.

Another World War that kills 100 million people would go a long way to helping.

That would be only about 1.5% of the population. Doubt if the planet would even notice, in general.

I dropped out of college on the second semester (1991) and went to work on my own and I am glad I did. No student debt, bought a house in 1998 and its almost paid for (15 year loan)
