I volunteered free legal time to a save the oceans group until I found out they got their funding from the city of San Diego and other sources and they would show up at rallies and organize people. But, if the city did not like they would call the off. or tell them to drop a law suit or prospective law suit. (and this was in the 90s)

Now did the people running that organization really want clean bays and oceans. yes... I think they did... but I think they also liked their pay checks.

were they puppets and paid organized protestors...yes.
