If the Articles never go to the Senate then was the President really impeached?

The short version is that she has lost control of the process and is looking for a way to get out but at least show that she inflicted serious damage on to Trump.

Pelosi never wanted this impeachment and desperately tried to head it off, but the lefties and the power and attention seekers running their own agendas (Nadler and Schiff) outmaneuvered her. Eventually she caved in because the polls were strong enough in favor of impeaching that she felt that she could at least pull it off and benefit from appeasing those who wanted the impeachment- although still being opposed to it herself, knowing the messiness of it and that it would benefit Trump.

Problem is the polls shifted, making it an even worse trade to take, risk to reward-wise. So then she though that Bolton and Mulvaney could be her savings grace -ie, if you could get the in before the Senate trial then they would inflict enough damage on to Trump for her to be able to say that she impeached Trump and blew both of his legs off at the trial even though he was acquitted. But then Mitch announced that they would not be having any more witnesses at the trial. The House investigated at length and had witnesses up the ying yang and now the Senate would just be making a judgement upon the existing set of facts. Translation: No Bolton or Mulvaney bombshells allowed and if you go to the Senate you just go there to take it up the bo-bo and then it is over. Not want Nancy needs to get out of this mess.

So, that's a long winded way of getting to what she wants out of this: She wants to extract an agreement from the Senate that they will allow new witnesses in return for her sending the charges over to the Senate. It's a disaster. She thinks that she has a fine-tuning knob on a train wreck- but it does not work that way. What does her threat consist of? Oh, I see. "Allow Mulvaney and Bolton to testify of I will refuse to impeach the president." Not the zippiest strategy.

It is probably too much to replay right now, but keep in mind too, that even if Mitch agreed to allow those witnesses to be called that Trump may block it by asserting Executive Privilege for their testimony, which would then spin it off in to the courts and whatever timetable that requires. The lefties will argue that Executive Privilege may not be allowed in an impeachment trial because impeachment has its own source of authority in the Constitution. It will still take lots of court time to conclude that even if one were to accept that argument, which I don't.

But that's what she wants. She wants to be able to damage him even further if she cannot win. Right now if it goes over to the Senate all they are going to do is rehash what the House did and watch the dems bend over and take it. That is not a good look for her or the party.

Take home message for Nancy: No fine-tuning knob on a trainwreck.

I don't know why so many people give you sh*t here Tft. Although you do throw in the occasional jab-type remark with a strong right-leaning bent, other than that... your assessment of things as they stand in reality is usually spot on.

So that said.. is B1 right? It sounds like it might be the case. Nancy is shrewd. But since the Pub's control the Senate, if Ruthie taps out in the next few months and the so called nuclear option remains in effect... why would what B1 said be the case? You can answer that too B1. It shouldn't matter right?

I would agree with B1, in the sense that she is trying to eviscerate Trump generically - for a wide spectrum of reasons- Supreme Court nominations being one- but I dont necessarily place that above wanting to weaken him just related to the 2020 elections. She hates him and wants to disable him for so many reasons, I would need a software program to track them all. But yeh, Supreme court nominations is a big one for everyone, Trump and all the Dems escpecially. And then there is DACA and....and....and.... She just needs to wound him as much as she can.

But agreeing with B1 about Pelosi wanting to try to render him powerless on Senate appointments doesnt mean I think that Pelosi has any power to do that coming from this impeachment thing. That's just what she wants. Similarly, she may want the Senate to try Trump by her rules. Okay, thanks for sharing Nancy. What cards are you holding?

One of the things that the dems are up against on Supreme Court appointments, is that judges are Mitch's legacy so the dems have a very hard time doing divide-and-conquer with Trump and Mitch. They work pretty close there. Ruthie steps down or whatever and Mitch is going to try to fill that ASAP even if it is in a lame duck period.

But is Pelosi trying to damage his authority and standing in an important area like that. You betcha. Dems need to watch their arse though. The dems are convinced that that whole Kanvanaugh episode was winner for them just because it got all those DC politicians some good publicity for their failed presidential campaigns. Personally, I think the last thing they would want to do is to run a shit-show like that right before an election. The electorate is not made up of just conservatives and ultra-lefties. Lots of regular moderate and normal people did not like what was done to kavanaugh at all. Ruthie probably gonna make it to the election anyway. At least her chances are better than a couple of the dem candidates (okay, was that necessary on my part?).

There was, I think, some forlorn hope that the work of the people would be a higher interest than Orange Man Bad.

Pelosi is a partisan politician, not a legislator. Many knew this from the way Obamacare was rammed through in the middle of the night but its taken some more shenanigans to convince everyone. Now its clear.

Democrats want to harm the President so its time to harm them by every legal means.

She rammed Obamacare through without a single republican vote, we all know that was a huge mistake. The democrats actually tried to blame the republican for Obamacare.

She rammed impeachment through without republican support. If Trump is re-elected then her career will officially be over.

The irony is that she is out there working full-time for the Committee to Re-Elect Donald J. Trump.

Keep it up tards. If you want Trump to be re-elected, you are doing all the right things.

It’s ok. Ur just jealous

Are you into your "trading whiskey" again? What is that anyway? I don't drink myself, at least not at my desk. Looks a bit like tequila?

You guys are over thinking this..the articles were voted on right before the holidays. No need to rush them over to sit there during Hanukah when no one is going to be in town.

Will bet that those articles magically show up just before the State of the Union for nice effect. Both sides are just playing games.
