If someone is purposely trying to alter someone’s post to make it look like they said something they didn’t I can understand that. But when it’s obviously done in humor with the changes underlined, color change... well everyone can see it’s not done with an ulterior motive.
But if the rules are that “rules” then abide by them and don’t get all pissy when you step out of line and get a post deleted
When it happened to me, and I know 99% who did it. I didn’t shout it out to everyone, didn’t harass the other person, didn’t make a big deal, I explained my side to Magna, apologized and went on.

I have seen it done so often, though only couple of times myself before, I figured as long as you made it clear you had it was just an amusing rebuttal not deception. Certainly never heard it was a board rule.
Wallet, did it ever cross your mind you just post about it being a fair thing to do or not for discussion? You admitted my change/correction of the author name was fair but you went to the guards anyway?
