if i had 10 cents for every arb I've seen...

Dude, many people do capital structure arb trades of this sort. It is a well known strategy.

Edit: I am talking about market caps greater than $500m of course.
Cool...so you knwo what I'm talking about? Why wouldn't you understand that I don't want any competition in these trades?

Trade any strategy you want, but act like a gentleman, which he does not. The points I were making were about O-T-Cs, so to respond to me about something completely different shows he's not paying attention. Claiming some "secret formula" is simply the sign of someone who doesn't believe what they're saying.

"Shaming is the #1 weapon of someone who knows they don't have the facts on their side."

He's just angry, as many are, so be it, let him vent. I get your other strategy point, which is true, it's not OTC, but I get it. You act like a gentleman.

Happy trades!

Just drop it and move on if there is nothing for you to learn from him. Less confrontation on this forum is not a bad thing.

Guys, hurry up, take your frozen pumpkin frappuccinos and tie up your man buns, there is a rally for the gender correct designation of the yellow umbrel.

Holy fuck, it's not enough to give away business insights, you have to explain it in a way that is nice and doesn't hurt the snowflakes. No wonder the world is going to shits.

What a freaking bunch of morons...just put me on ignore

That's the mark of a wise man. You don't tell others your trades and put them on the trail of your strategies. We all hit a liquidity wall at some point so we sure as heck don't want competition on our trades.

On top of that, individual trades don't matter for many of us. If you ask me what I traded on friday, I couldn't tell you. Unless it's a massive gain or loss (HKD and the likes), it just becomes passing noise. Making calls and yammering about a single trade reminds me of Cramer.

The best part of all this is that Muppet is under the impression that I am after him, when I am publicly defending his stance! Go figure.

I know someone who actually worked with Jim Henson for several years as a Muppeteer before Henson passed, and "Mr. Muppet" is a wanna-be without no street cred. People name call for attention, since they don't naturally draw it. As self-identified, he's well worth ignoring, and seems used to it. I'm guessing he wears "Oscar" pajamas with a matching night light. Funny.

Arbitrage in the strictest sense of the word would be an almost reckless transaction.

With stock market deal arbitrage you hopefully get rid of meaningful market risk, industry risk and stock risk. However, you are left with a new risk:

Deal Risk!

Quite a few deal-arb guys have blown up or taken crazy losses by taking on too much deal risk.

really, never heard of it . is it worse than hodling crypto ?

99.99% of traders on et trade stocks and options. The whole world loves to be able to trade options in US markets for liquidity and no counter party risk but can’t. This guy talks about trading niche markets (read con markets) where everyone colludes to scam retail investors. Getting convertible bonds from management(who are in bed) for .20 cents less is pure genius? Pulllleasse!
I thought markets like this went out of existence after computers and internet. Anyway, we are very happy trading liquid US options market and making consistent money. Thank you very much!
If you have anything to contribute to options trading, let’s hear it. Nobody here looks upto that kind of scam trading from 1980s.

Well said. He makes a bold claim about his "genius," then doesn't have the courage to actually explain it, which means he doesn't believe his own words.

An actual genius has no worries sharing their thoughts, since most won't get it anyway, whatever he thinks is "genius" in his mind is likely pretty pedestrian, as you explained.

He probably felt the same way the day he learned to tie his shoes.

Happy trades!
