The point is this is actually a combination of things, first and foremost being China acting to conceal.

Blame goes there first.

Second is as part of the international community we need to take these things seriously and tie them to economic trade and sanctions.

Lastly is the Trump administration cutting the global pandemic budget in the CDC and eliminating the pandemic task force in the White House. We would have had people on the ground in China if it wasn’t for these cuts. Go ahead and chastise me as “orange man bad” but it’s true. We would have had a chance to control it if we did not cut those programs and offices.

That's bullshit. We massively fund the WHO so we are already funding an international effort to "take things seriously." Except as with all international efforts we fund they do nothing, kow-tow to china and otherwise use the funding just to criticize us. That was the goddam WHO's job to sound the alarm hard and early. And then Congress did nothing because y'all though the impeachment scam was going to work out for you and were totally focused on that.

Should have cut their funding long ago and moved over the model that we having to develop on the fly now which includes a strong, vigorous partnership and readiness mode in coordination with the private sector. You like lefties think that the Department of Motor Vehicles business model is the right one for everything. We fund the CDC, we fund the WHO, and all the food programs etc, and then when there is a crisis everyone wants to know why we never did anything. The Obama CDC think tank model of crisis management is the problem, not the solution.

And your basic concession that the Chinese knew about it earlier and did nothing is correct except it still covers for them. They knew about it as early as November. Were not able to cover it up with their various propaganda and making researchers disappear, and started accepting the fact that it needed to be reported the last week in Dec, and got around to reporting it to WHO in January. And yes, they fucked the entire world for doing so. So what do we get from the international agencies such as WHO: America bad-Orange Man bad for referring to it as the China virus. That's what we get for our god-knows-how-much funding of WHO.

Whenever the United States attempts to do something on its own or withdraw from do nothing international organizations you line up to call us cowboys, not part of the international community and that we should be working together with other countries in the world.

Then when we see yet another example of them being totally worthless in critical matters you argue that they dont really have any real responsibilities anyway. Just advisory.

Why dont we just move the lion's share of funding for them - which comes the United States- back to the United States then because we have some serious needs. You okay with that? Ditto for the rest of United Nations.

The fact that WHO and UN are worthless has nothing to do with coronavirus or stopping a pandemic.

If you want them to be responsible for stopping pandemics then go write someone a letter to make it happen. But right here and today you’re talking out of your ass.
