if backtesting works, what could go wrong in real trade?

You could make that argument if I was trying to tell people to trade with soup because soup contained magical math properties that lead to profitable trades.

But I see why you might still be confused since you don't seem to have quite mastered analogies yet.

I remember one day back in the summer of 1994 I was eating alphabet soup for lunch and I looked down and saw AAPL. I went long...it's still working. :)
