Thank you Spyder for the explanaation of the HVS... Thanks for all the help!!

Hi Spyder, You labled 13:15 to 13:55 as an HVS. Would you mind explaining which bar you saw start the HVS and how we entered the HVS? When an HVS is that long, I get a little confused

Spyder, would you mind explaining briefly how the 10:55 is indeed a stall bar? Thanks

Sorry, just one more. Then I'll enjoy the weekend...

Spydertrader, If you dont mind, i have a quick question for you concerning bars that take out both a new high and new low to the previous bar. Are there any rules associated with them? Do they signal anything with any consistency? 4/4 ES bar at 15:30 is an example. Thanks!

Hey Spydertrader, When you mention price must breakout on increasing vol, what does this mean exactly? To what are we comparing the volume of a potential breakout to? Thanks!

I have accrued monster losses today. The only thing, I still can not understand is , why Jack spends a lot of time reconvincing a bunch of people, who do not give a shit about his system, but at the same is unable to find a minute for the people struggling in this thread. I guess I'm done with this thread. I wish all of you a lot of success, guys... I quit...

Quote from ScottD:

We’ve made substantial progress and this seems like a good time in the project to draft a summary of where we’ve been and where we’re heading.

Progress and milestones
• We started the Cashcow project in earnest on December 9, 2008.
• Jack and I have established rapport, clear communications, and an effective design-build process.
• We have codified a powerful set of logic, and Jack has certified each major release so far (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) as accurate.
• We created an ATS dashboard, which has turned out to be an efficient and effective analysis, diagnosis, and validation tool.
• We publically shared the baseline logic and code. Others, even antagonists, have taken the ideas and run with them, a beautiful thing.
• The “I deserve…” , “feed me…”, “it’s not possible [for me]…”, and the “I’ll take but not give…” types display their true colors and filter themselves out.
• We continue to share the latest ATS with a self-selected community of contributors from around the world.

Real world testing and performance
• We have been focused on deductive reasoning instead of curve fitting profits. Having said that, we did expect each release to be profitable.
• Each logic release has had some profitable days and flashes of brilliance, but the logic has not been profitable over a sustained multi-week forward test or multi-month back test period.
• Notwithstanding, I feel we have made truly excellent progress and we'll get there.

Looking forward
• Release 1.3 is work-in-progress and includes powerful new logic, such as Hold, Major Change, and Volume Differentiation.
• Release 1.4 is scoped to include MACD Sequences and Rays.
• I feel it is possible to design and build a profitable ATS based on ‘beginner’ logic.
• I feel there is a real advantage to designing and building a profitable ‘beginner’ release prior to incorporating greater sophistication/complexity associated with YM or intra-bar decisions.
• The ATS architecture and code remains organized, modular, clean, intuitive, flexible, easily modifiable, and easily validate-able.
• We continue to deductively analyze the real world performance and make excellent additions and refinements.

Daily meditation:
Quote from jack hershey:

...The MODE and sentiment aspects of MADA, once automatic, are the most helpful for smoothing out the mental and emotional aspects of trading. All of this drives you AWAY from the one element data set and to the multi element data set in sensing markets. Freak out comes from lack of discipline in assembling data sets. Freak out literal y disappears as you assemble data sets as part of doing MADA.

Repeatedly reaching closure on MADA by doing al four steps under the Continue leading to "HOLD" is what gives the foundation of trading that, in turn, gives you the skill ability to step up and deal with the occasional Action that comes when Change come on the table to precipitate the timely action of reversing.

The mental transition to hold and reverse from your historical orintation of entry-exit is a very significant AHA (more a giant AHA). As this happens from drills of all kinds, the emphasis becomes the end of holds going into change--- a time when you move mentally to exit-entry which is the opposite of entry-----hope----exit. exit- entry is rapid and entry-exit is slow and drawn out...

... In trading and with regard to the various skill levels, a trader progresses to understanding the paralllel context after he has first worked on the single slowest period first. As you drill down into the finer levels, you become more parallel oriented and see the larger and larger context of what you are doing...

like Spyder said, even if we do not progress beyond the first lessons, we will still be well rewarded for our efforts.
http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1431370&#post1431370

Spyder has commented from the beginning that you will find it very rewarding, even if you just trade at the forest level.
http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1555961&#post1555961

Spyder is teaching, but definitely not spoon feeding. I can see his teaching style: He gave a map, shown us the direction, told us the landmarks along the way... then we have to make the journey.
http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1590746&#post1590746

Spyder has stated many time, even if we do not progress beyond the 1st month's lesson, we can still trade the forest level with very rewarding result.
