Apple Car developments could kickstart big auto-tech partnerships in 2021

  • What will Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) car development program look like if the company moves forward with a dramatic move into the automobile industry?
  • "Initially, the most likely rollout would involve several hundred Apple Cars driving in US cities for a year or two before becoming more widely available. Apple could either sell cars directly to consumers or offer a subscription-like transportation service similar to Zoox or Tesla robotaxi. It's highly unlikely Apple will build cars, and more likely they outsource manufacturing to an OEM partner," predict Loup Ventures' Gene Munster and team.
  • As for manufacturing partners, Wedbush Securities pointed to Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), Volkswagen (OTCPK:VWAGY), Nio (NYSE:NIO) and XPeng (NYSE:XPEV) as potential strategic partners for Apple. If it looks to find an OEM partner....
 
The stock market has been playing a game with itself. " Discounting " These doe eyed dolts who push the stocks on TV are always asking " How much has the market discounted? " Have we already assumed a rebound etc?

But there are times it seems the market is blind. Or just doesn't want to accept the truth.
Any recovery in things like travel, the theater, movies, cruises etc is a full year further out than the Market has " discounted " The market is a year's worth of earnings behind. And back to normal life which has been promised to us this summer is likely an additional summer away.

Has the market discounted that?

At this point in the inoculation roll out 27 million shots are supposed to be in the arm. We are trending at just over a million. The vaccine roll out is 20 X behind schedule.

We need 70% of the population to get the shot in order to throw a blanket on this fire and maybe stamp it out. Yet the polls show that we will never achieve that amount. Too many people are not going to take it. So what is the end game?

I think the marketing has to change. The new push should be along the lines of Hey my name is Larry I got the vaccine and now if I do get a variant of Covid at least I won't die.

We need to further explain the benefits of getting the shot and describe the whole experience as an ability to avoid going to the hospital. We should probably stop talking about beating the virus and returning to normal...

As previously stated, AQMS has partnerships with proven, large industrial players that further validate the technology, including a licensing agreement with Johnson Controls (now Clarios). A feedstock agreement with Interstate Batteries and an operations and maintenance agreement with Paris-based Veolia (OTCPK:VEOEY) (an industrial giant spun out of DuPont (NYSE:DD)).

The capital-light shift in the business model and multi-year balance sheet liquidity runway should allow AQMS's disruptive technology the ability to capture a portion of its potential in the $20B+ and growing global addressable market (50% of which is eligible for licensed AquaRefining). Initially, when the company went public, the story was recycling lead acid batteries. Its total addressable market is now much larger with AQMS using its technology for Lithium-ion battery recycling.

As Steve said on the most recent earnings call:

"And there's also an interesting thing going on in the Tahoe Reno industrial center area which is there are a fair number of companies trying to move forward with how do we recycle lithium batteries. Because remember you could recycle lead acid batteries and Aqua Metals improves the way that you recycle lead acid batteries through AquaRefining greatly… And obviously Tahoe Reno industrial center has a large lithium player with Tesla being down the road. And there are some companies that are moving forward in that area and see this as a strategic hub for potentially creating an ecosystem."
