OSUR Update--
Dear Van. Orasure had a huge down day of 30% when ABT announced their at home test for $5. This completely took me by surprise. My only hope is that somehow the Orasure test can compete in price or at least be better in some way.
The US Gov is backing more than one horse in this race. It is so important thatthey are actualy weeding out thefakes which is a good thing. OSUR already has an at home HIV test so they know how to connect all the dots.
The U.S. federal government’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, known as BARDA, has funded the development of a rapid coronavirus test that can be self-administered at home.
My hope at this point rests on this:
Designed by OraSure Technologies, the test would not only detect the novel infection that causes COVID-19 but all coronaviruses that can lead to severe respiratory disease, such as the strain behind the previous SARS outbreak of the early 2000s.
This would seem VERY important because we might be heading into a world where every couple years a new nasty form of Corona breaks out and to have a test that can spot ANY Coronoa is huge. Does the Abbot test do that? Quite frankly I do not know. I expect it does not and I hope the OSUR proves to be more accurate as well.
In Summery) OSUR is knocked down to $12. I am waiting for some proof of recovery then Doubling Down most likely.~stoney
**The BARDA contract awarded the company $710,310 to help OraSure eventually file for an emergency product authorization from the FDA.
