Sterling and others,
Thanks for all the help!
Here is the basic system I am looking at right now (all prices @ newegg.com):
- ASUS A7V333 mobo (this supports the legacy ports I need, has overheating protection for the CPU, does have a few extras I don't need though... The other choice here is the ABIT KX7-333, but that doesn't have all the legacy ports.) $131
- Samsung Original DDR333 pc2700 256mb cas2.5 (not on the mobo maker's OK list though...This was just a random pick, I have no idea which memory to get. See ASUS list below.) $72
- MAXTOP CSX-147K2F-GF-USB-GRAY case (rear, side and top fans) $32
- Antech 330 W Power Supply True 330 (low noice tech, then claim) $50
- ARKUA TECH 7528 (Silence Solution) Heatsink and fan for AMD socket 462 upto XP2000+ $22
- AMD Athlon XP2000+/266 FSB CPU OEM $137
- 2 Vantec STEALTH 80mm fans to replace case fans 2 * $12
Total = $468
I will probably get a 20G HD as well, but that shouldn't be hard. I am mainly concerned about the CPU, mobo, and memory at this point.
OK, I am really wondering about this next part... This is from the ASUS website. Should I take them seriously?

Pokey, I do have an old PS but I want to upgrade both my machines (old machine and new one) to quieter power supplies and cpu fans. I hate the high pitched noise of a shitty fan.
Rigel, I think that water cooling thing may be overkill for me. Also my case choice should help a lot with side and top fans...
