I'd like to think I didn't get ripped off buying OpenQuant

Quote from jhucti:

OpenQuant needs to broaden its use base and encourage forum participation so that questions could be answered by other users, or a search in the OpenQuant forum. Currently the dominate way to get questions answered is by Anton or Alexei, which is not the optimal way in the long term.

Exactly. That's why we are planning to offer a free version of OQ. We also want to add a more professional trading front end, so that traders who currently only need charting / execution capabilities would be interested to try the application and then use its automated strategy development features.

Grumpy Russians and customer support just don't go together.

I agree it would be nice to move support outside of Russia. We are working on it :)

Quote from lurkingschmirk:

OpenQuant is anything but "open source" AFAIK.

The naming is clearly a marketing tactic designed to draw people to the product and to jump on the open source bandwagon...

"Open" can (of course) mean more than one thing, so you shouldn't jump to conclusions.

I've always understood OpenQuant to be open because it is easy to integrate with other solutions. This is because it is built on .NET. Also the term open software came much earlier than open source software.

If this was indeed a marketing tactic it would be terribly inefficient. What's the point in luring people to your store only to find out immediately that you are selling something else than they thought?

OpenQuant may have shortcomings but there's no reason to criticise the name.
