I would say that we should wait and see what will happen with the prosecution of the companies, but that would be like saying let's wait and see who goes down for this Epstein charade. No one of consequence will suffer any jail time, small fine at worst. This is the real weak link in the republican argument surrounding illegal immigration. They do love the slave labor.
Many illegals have fake papers saying they're here legally. If you just go in and indiscriminately start arresting business owners for employing them without proof they know, then guess what happens. People with brown skin or even a slight accent from another country aren't getting hired anymore.
Left wing media will pick up on that fast and start with the "they won't hire because they're racist!" when in reality, the business owners just don't want to get arrested. Then those illegals, unable to get work and being desperate will eventually turn to robbing these "racist" businesses, in which then the RIGHT wing media will jump on board and say "See...Mexicans committing crime more than ever"
And then the shit show begins where both sides are blaming each other for this mess, and all the presidential candidates start talking about change and completely opening borders or completely closing borders and on and on.
Unfortunately for Americans- unless you are a democrat or some other kind of American-lite- the issue is no longer just a problem of of illegals being hired. To be more precise, it is a problem of illegals who do not have work permits being hired. Don't think for a minute that illegals do not qualify for work permits just by virtue of being here undocumented. THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOO YESTERDAY. It becomes a word game/shell game where an illegal here who has been released for a hearing date is not actually considered to be here legally and the government hands out work permits to them like candy.
So these companies that are hiring illegals with no work permits must have workers from years ago or their books or something. Otherwise, they have no reason to be crying about labor shortage. We have millions of new illegals invading/streaming in every year and are getting work permits too. And if dems elect a president and are able to put together coalitions of dems and immigration-weak republicans then they will just make every illegal here legal and give them permanent work permits. So, PROBLEM SOLVED. Dems win. Country totally ruined.

E-verify was started by Obama more than a decade ago. Every employer is free to sign up, enjoy the vetting the government provides and be legally shielded from prosecution for hiring illegals. Quit making piss poor excuses.

Try reading my post. I made the same point.
The point was- read it again- that I have no sympathy for companies hiring illegals and then crying labor shortage because we have millions and millions of phony asylum seekers arriving yearly who are given valid work permits while their cases are pending, and they are pending for years. That is how the game is played.
Your link asserts that they "willfully used ineligible workers." Absofuckinglutely. That was part of my point. The lefties and the conservatives like to argue that this is just a marrying up of poor job seekers with employers looking for workers. NOT SO. To repeat, the government is handing out work permits by the millions as the surge continues. But in the mississippi situation, both the employers and the workers are involved in a dirtier game.
