Sorry, my english is really bad.

For example:
I´m watching Cien for a breakout. Cien is wiggling between 90 and 90 1/2
I´m preparing my order: Buy limit cien 90 3/8, exchange island
But I do not transmit my order, I´m waiting for the breakout.

Cien is still wiggling between 90 and 90 1/2 and will transmit my order when the nasdaq future is breaking a resistance e.g.
In the old version I was able to see, by the colours my limit price was underlayed, if I would get a fill right at this moment. So I was able to see if my order is inside the market or outside.
When I was outside the market my limit price was white, when I´m inside the market it was a little bit brown.

You can make a test even in the premarket and aftermarket session. When CSCO in island is 35 - 35 1/8
Prepre a buy limit with 24 1/2 and one with 35 1/2 than you will see the diffrence

This is more important in VRTS than in CSCO, but its a very helpfull tool. Exspecially when there are a lot of island boys with 90 133/234 asks :) in Stocks that are thin and fast.

I hope that this feature can be included in the new version

sorry I meant to post that I saw what you meant. To be honest I never noticed as I never left orders sitting around before xmitting. I can see how it helps if you are working a number of orders. I'll see if we can get it implemented.

I'm trying to save as much space as possible on my desktop. Under contract, for stocks, the reading is, for example, 'DELL S USD BEST.' Is there any way to put the route before the 'S' and the 'USD,' which are pretty much useless info taking up screen space? I would like to have it read 'DELL BEST S USD' so I can move the line overtop the 'S' and 'USD.'
 
I think a feature will be added soon that you will enable users to choose an alias for each item entered. Thus you will have the freedom to label each line as you wish.
 
re: IRA's. I believe it is a matter of resolving a couple more issues but I do not know of the time frame.

FYI, I'll be out of town for a week and try to post more info when I return.

I have noticed, with the new Java TWS, that there's always a small delay of a few seconds after execution or cancellation, before the order finally disappears from the line below the quoteline.
in the old TWS it disappeared much faster. it is really disturbing. and a lot of german user I know are also suffering, because of this big delay.

I'm curious how many of the folks here use IB's Best Execution?

In the trading room that I spend most of my time, Best Execution is often called Worst Execution.

These are `active traders'. Most of us probably do between 20 and 200 trades per day. Fast exections are essential to us.

Most of us use direct Island executions, since they're extremely fast on IB. `Best Execution' is usually very slow, in comparison. And, unlike Island, Best is not immediately cancellable -- you sometimes have to wait a bit due to SelectNet rules, etc.

I heard that IB gets payment for order flow on Best Execution, which could explain why they promote it so heavily.

So what executions do IB users on the list use?

I use ISLD most of the time, but when ISLD is very illiquid or when ISLD is down, I use ARCA, I have very good results with both ECNs. Especially when a stock is not ISLD liquid for executions, I use ARCA because of its preferencing algorithms. ARCA can hit INCA, ISLD, ARCA and other ECNs using selectnet.
I never use IB's other routes. The other ECNS appear somewhat illiquid for me. IB's INCA is too slow to go live to be of any use (DEF, can you answer this ? ? ) REDI is as fast as ISLD on IB, but it tends to get stuck and doesnt accept odd lots. SOES is for bandits and Best Execution is for dummies. In summary, the "last" routes I will use from IB is "Best Execution" and "INCA"

elie: i'll pass your comment along on duration of time an order remains on the screen when executed or cancelled. i have a feeling that this is one of those things where it was requested by others to remain longer. past comments/criticsms have made a difference so maybe this may influence things.

rfoulk: IB is not selling order flow for equities. IB does route some flow on options but that is only due to the fact that we lost the battle with the SEC in the fight against it. One of those cases where if you can't beat them, join them. Exchanges are tacking on fees that pay for flow if you route to them. However, first and foremost when it comes to routing any flow - BEST PRICE is never compromised. I.e. if we have an order flow deal and there is a better price elsewhere, we will route to the better price.

hsanson: i think your issues are with INCA and not IB.
