iborrowdesk reliable?

Hi,

I want to use iborrowdesk data to assess whether a short attack has ended. But my main question is: are the data of iborrowdesk reliable? I have read that short interest ratio is not a reliable indicator because it isn't updated often. However, the data of iborrowdesk seem to be more up to date. Now I have also read that the data of iborrowdesk are also not always reliable. So I want to hear if someone can tell me more about the reliability of iborrowdesk. Thanks.

How reliable can they be?
Or in other words, if you’d want to provide such service and sell such info, where would you get it from?
They cannot have any secret source of data that you cannot have, so if they’re estimating the short interest in some way then you can do the same, and do this better. If you cannot then possibly they also cannot.

He's not selling it, it's a free resource based on IB's data.

I see. Though my point was that, whether commercial or not, anyone offering such data would need to estimate it. So the OP may not be able to find "reliable" data when it doesn't exist and needs to be estimated. Anyone can make the same estimate as anyone else, though possibly using iborrowdesk as one of resources, besides the official/delayed data.

Well, IB doesn't estimate it, they calculate it based on their own resources.
 
seems like a decent source for retail...
Basic version is free and it is based on actual borrowing activity...
S3 Partners seems to be good but that is for institutions and way more expenssive
