IBM To Replace 7.800 Jobs With A.I

The only thing that will stop AI doing the vast majority of jobs in the future will be policy/legisltation.

Tech giant IBM plans to stop hiring people for positions it believes can be handled by artificial intelligence
IBM CEO, Arvind krishna, he stated in ainterview with Bloomberg that 30% of the approximately 26.000 non-customer jobs could be replaced by AI, equal to approximately 7.800 jobs lost. According to Krishna, HR positions will be among the first to be outsourced to AI. However, jobs focused on customer interaction and software development are not expected to be impacted in the coming years.

This move by IBM raises a number of concerns about the future of work and the impact of AI on the workforce. On the one hand, AI can improve efficiency and reduce business costs, but on the other hand, this could lead to job losses for human workers. Additionally, there are concerns about fairness and diversity in the use of AI in employee selection and management. If hiring and firing decisions are based only on AI, there could be a risk of discrimination and exclusion of some categories of workers.

IBM's decision to replace thousands of employees with AI raises many questions about the future of work and the impact of AI on the workforce. It is important for companies to find a balance between business efficiency and the protection of human workers, and that attention is paid to fairness and diversity in the use of AI in employee selection and management. The use of AI in human resource management activities can lead to numerous benefits, including the automation of personnel selection procedures, employee performance evaluations and training and career development planning. Furthermore, AI can improve business efficiency and reduce costs, allowing employees to focus on higher value-added activities.

However, it's important to note that AI is not a panacea for all business problems. AI can improve efficiency and productivity, but it cannot completely replace human labor. Humans remain irreplaceable in managing customer relationships and solving complex problems that require intelligence and creativity.

Oh, this should be fun. Seeing all the zany examples we are seeing now with AI generated results.

Can you imagine IBM Services selling advice created by AI? Probably cause their customer's business to sink.

It is exponential growth at this stage, if it continues then:

10 years from now the AI will be 1000 times as powerful.
20 years from now the AI will be 1 million times as powerful.
30 years from now the AI will be 1 billion times as powerful.

This is what makes it so hard to predict what the future holds, very hard to accurately imagine what that kind of power will have on the future course of humanity..

Just watch The Terminator.

Jokes aside, I think Terminator as a movie is dangerous to the public perception of what's potentially ahead, because it is grossly inaccurate in that 'Skynet' is way too stupid w.r.t. to its botched cleanup of humans surviving the featured nuclear war. Its foundational underpinning is the belief (we gladly subscribe to) that humans are inherently superior... not a true one.

On that note, rats sometimes overcome humans because they are too numerous for us to handle, but it doesn't mean an individual rat stands a chance in a 1v1 since we obviously outsmart them. A self reproducing AI system (if it even needs to) is going to be way more numerous than humans due to vastly faster growth rates, so this sideline argument can be shot down immediately.

Since we won't (per definition) outsmart superhuman AGI and can't outnumber it, losing control and conflict is not an option.

The reality is though, losing control is not the only danger. Another danger is some guy (or more probably tribe) deciding to enslave or destroy the rest of humanity because he/they felt like instructing AGI to do it.

Edit: sorry for the tangent, this is just becoming standard doom mongering on my part. The important part is we make sure this does not happen.

How do you expand wealth with 80% of the population being dealt out?
A.I. should be used to empower people, for a small fee $800 monthly.

What is wealth to you? Something absolute, or something relative to other people?
