I would like to adjust my delta hedge on my short call position in AMC, but TWS has just informed me that all new purchases of AMC are disabled. Why is that? Was it IBKR's choice to do that, or was it forced on IBKR by the SEC or a clearing broker or somebody?
I don't believe any brokers should be blocking people from buying GME and AMC. I've been seeing Dave Portnoy and the Winklevoss Twins and politicians left and right tear robinhood a new asshole on twitter for doing that. I expected better from IBKR.
That would have been significant in the non-zero-commission days. Not anymore. Brokers now seem to really want traders with either lots of cash (on the average) in the account or lots of margin. A couple-K-phone-trader-account is not that significant. At least that's what it seems like (I am not a broker).when this is all over the brokers that allowed transactions will see an influx from those that did not.
