IB your service is terrible

Mon Dec 9 09:42:33 2002 EST Globex is currently experiencing internal network issues that may affect order routing.

GLOBEX Trading: GLOBEX is currently unavailable. All other IB systems are functioning normally.
 
For all traders who are logged on. DO NOT log off. If they do decide to give a thousand dollar rebates, you will not receive it if you can't prove you were logged on.
 
Just to set the record straight. It was and still is my understanding that elitetrader is a forum for members to discuss our experiences. In that light my problem was revealed. It was started by my immediate experience and there was No other intention other than to set forth this experience. I have learnt a lot from these boards and I"m sure others have too.
 
Strange stuff. I trade my IB account using Medved QuoteTracker. Each day to trade ES or NQ all I have to do is use the integrated trading in the QT program. Today, I tried to buy and sell contracts multiple times, but nothing goes through. According to my TWS bulletin, GLOBEX has been "available" since 09:55:14 EST, but for me it's not available. I almost decided to trade the YM instead, but I like the liquidity of ES/NQ too much to give it up. Before this point, I have never had a problem with IB. Although I haven't been with them THAT long.

It's not a IB problem, the problem is with Globex.

I've also looked into the YM lately, liquidity is still a problem, although it improved a lot recent months. If the CBOT can get volume between 50k-100k a day, GLOBEX IS DEAD, especially with those insane commissions.
