IB vs. Tradestaion

vhehn - note that the new version of QuoteTracker has dynamic historical charts that work the same way as the intraday - full zooming, trendlines, paintbars, configurable indicators, P&F & Renko charts, etc.
IB is a broker, so all the trades you are making, whether you use ButtonTrader to enter the trades, QT, or TWS directly, are being sent to IB, so they are the ones executing them. Also, the Level I and Level II data for both ButtonTrader and Quotetracker would be coming from IB. Basically QT and BT are front ends for IB (and other brokers in the case of QT).
As for IB charging higher fees for using ButtonTrader, that is only the case IF you trade US Equities and IF you are specifying the route for the orders. If you route to SMART, its not an issue. If you are trading futures, its not an issue.

Thanks very much Jerry M...one question for you...what do you mean by being a front end for IB.. I havent heard that expression (front end ) before...thanx in advance
Basically the software that the user is seeing and using to trade with the broker.
For example, when viewing this site, you can use IE browser or Firefox to view it. the browser is the "front end" - the part that the person uses to interact with the site. Same thing with the QuoteTracker and Buttontrader software and the brokers

Thanks,,, can I view QT and IB on the same screen or do I have to go back and forth between the 2 sites? Cant I use IB directly without using the brwswer...Also , with Qt are the charts, news. T&S and level 2 screen all linked so that if press a stock from my watch list , do a they all come up at the same time?
yes everything is linked to your watchlist in quotetracker and you dont have to switch between sites. You can even trade directly from quotetracker if you want but I like buttontrader more as execution platform for IB but thats just my opinion off course. Just give it a try. Both buttontrader and Quotetracker have a great staff with excellent support so dont be affraid to ask questions!
I'm using both.
IB for 99% of all my trading (options, futures, commodities). I believe IB is the best broker out there. The only problem with IB is charting.
I use TS for charting platform and I trade a single strategy mainly to waive the platform fees. TS' main strength that almost everybody overlooks is the huge number of 3rd party solutions and the TS forums. I'm not very impressed with TS as a broker.

Your account info, transactions, positions, etc, is displayed within QT so you do not need to switch to TWS to view it.
In QT you can link windows so when you click on a symbol, all linked windows will switch to it. QT supports multiple groups of linked windows. You can switch symbols in the linked group by either clicking on a symbol in the portfolio or changing the symbol in any of the linked windows in the group by either typing the symbol, drag/drop, etc.
J. Medved...I am switching to IB..it seems to be advantageous that I also get your service..Do I have to pay IB for level 2 or is that included in your service? thanx
