Ib Tws Down

Let people pay for decent charts like the rest of us do, wtf is a few hundred dollars a month in a business like this for a dedicated quote/charting service? Stop giving others a free ride at my expense.

Nobody gives props when they're due... we only know how to kick 'em when they're down. Human nature I suppose. The fact that everybody seems to use them speaks louder than the complaints

i thought there was only one moderator per thread. i thought moderators were suppose to add knowledge to threads not commisserate with traders who don't seem to understand that systems go down and than make idle threads to transfer their accounts.

I don't think that's entirely fair. I really wish that IB would acknowledge these sorts of things in real-time, not 30 to 60 minutes late.

I have no problems accepting that technology is imperfect. I trade off my own software and have paid for many of my bugs with real $$. In the end, it's the ability to abort when things are not working that helps us avoid disaster, and that's what I would like IB to proactively address.

I agree. the System Status page/bulletins are there for a reason. I really dont want to have to chase down what's goin on.

It should be a priority to update those when issues arise.

Quote from IBsoft:

Sorry for the problems. We had a misconfigured firewall. The TWS is designed to recover from such a failure by attempting to get the data from a different source, but this failed. We'll have it fixed.

These hiccups happen in conjunction with moving the HK customers onto farms, the benefits of which are increased mkt-data refresh rates, increased number of free-of-charge symbols and decoupling of order-routing and market-data links. (This is not meant to be an excuse, just an explanation of what we were trying to accomplish).

Misconfigured firewall??? Can't you hire someone that knows how to configure a firewall? There is a lot of money on the line here.

My connection is fine now, but for the past couple of days my TWS will open the "loggin in" box when I'm already logged in and trading. I can't close the box, and the entire screen turns pink(thats the sign that its disconnected), even though the quotes are still updating.

Anyone else experience this?

========================

Htrader ;
yes, today.

Also entered an order, blue light came on;
green light did not [indicating order not being worked]

Logged IB off;
worked fine AFTER relog in this afternoon.:cool:

Green light means nothing i.e it just means there is a green light activated it does NOT mean your order is safely on the exchange server. Proof? Two Sunday nights in a row I was placing LIMITs in QM and watching the market trade through them even though they were green on TWS. As ALWAYS the bulletin [about QM problems] came out WAY TOO LATE.

I agree 100% with the point made above about letting customers know there is a problem - I have to start troubleshooting right away in order to make a decision on where the problem is and what to do about it

still having problems with data, TWS stops responding at all. after shut it down via task manager-all settings are lost. tried to restore settings-not matter what day i choose from TWS restore function-settings that i have for months till EOD today did not restored.

i said long time ago-if IB want to play with all this charts and other bells and whistles, they should provide 2 versions of TWS.
pro-without all this stuff and retail-with it. i remember,how old versions are worked-they not been perfect,but-reliable and fast.
now-we are pushed to swith to new one in april, and-here we go again.

Do a system restore, or restore from a ghost image of your PC that you've hopefully made. Seems to be the fastest way to solve most PC problems.

I've lost too much of exactly the same stuff, largely due to PC faults I believe. Back-up your system. It's worth it.
