IB Totally dead?

How does another account with another broker help you to sell shares at IB right now and close positions?

Everybody should have a back up account in case of these kind of problems! Make life alot less stressful not depending on one broker

for those of us using IB datafeed for charting, the charts would NOT backfill the 30 minutes or so gap ... it appears IB's datafarm was completely down during that time as well...

question is whether the data in the gap will ever be recovered by IB?

but the more important question is how could a failure of this magnitude be allowed to happen? what happened to their backup contingency plans?

Any Non-IB users experienced an outage this morning?

If not, would you reply with the name of your broker? I need to shop around for a new place. Thanks.

Of course hedging occurred to me but you have to have available idle funds in another account that aren't in a position.
There isn't much of a good solution to an account getting locked up. You may be able to alleviated some damage if the markets moved dramatically but it is all Just hassles and headaches.
Not a solution for me.
I need a brokerage account I can get to and that is reliable.
