IB Suggestions & Improvements

I have been placing many "Limit if Touched" orders that do not get activated because the stock price trades through my trigger price but does not trade at my trigger price. As an alternative to "Limit if Touched" orders, "Limit if < or =" orders and the "Limit if > or =" orders can be entered by using the "conditional orders" window but this takes too many steps and too much time for a quick setup of the order parameters.

I would like to see IB make TWS changes to allow "Limit if < or =" orders and the "Limit if > or =" orders to be entered directly from the order line of TWS. This could be done by adding these order types to the order type "Drop Down Box" on the order line for the underlying symbol.

Another method of accomplishing the same result would be to change the TWS trigger method of "Limit if Touched" orders so the order would trigger if the trade price trades at or through the trigger price. Maybe the "Limit if Touched" trigger method is already set up that this way but many of my orders are not being triggered when the trade price trades through my trigger price without trading at my trigger price.
 
is there any way on IB where you can calculate margin required for a trade before it is placed. Example calculating margin requirements for options on futures. ES or ER2.
 
I mentioned this a few pages back but never got a response.

When placing orders through the ActiveX API, orders for shorts that are rejected because the stock can't be borrowed generates a pop-up. For us automated traders that creates a screen full of pop-ups to close. Today I had 40.

Until a few TWS versions ago, we just got an error message from the API and no pop ups. This was perfect.

Any chance we can go back to that?
 
Please keep the downloads for TWS for MAC/Unix on the TWS dowload page up to date. Although the dowload page lists the Mac/Unix version for download as 857, when it is downloaded and run the log file shows:

JTS-Main: Build 856.5, Feb 3, 2006 6:17:38 PM

This problem has also occurred with previous TWS releases for Mac/Unix.

Furthermore, I cannot get this version to start at all. It gets no further than the splash screen. A clean, new install into another directory has the same problem. System config has not changed, and internet connection is fine. Other java apps are fine.

Java web start of 857 from the download page does start up, though rather slowly.

for the mac, the command to launch has changed slightly. are you using the commands specified on the download page?
 
It's Linux not Mac though I expect it is the same on both. Cut and pasted from my startup script:

$JAVA_HOME/bin/java -cp jts.jar:jcommon-1.0.0.jar:jfreechart-1.0.0.jar:jhall.jar:other.jar:rss.jar jclient.LoginFrame .

which looks the same to me as that shown on the download page.

In any case if there was a jar missing from the classpath, it should thow a class not found exception rather than just hanging.

I'm using Sun jdk1.5.0_06, but I have also tried it with the Sun jdk 1.6 beta (Mustang) and the results are the same.
 
Wasn't there a function where if a new high or low price was hit, the price text or box would flash a different color? I thought I saw that a few builds ago but can't seem to find it anymore.
 
Booktrader finally has optional colors I see. That yellow sell side drove me nuts. All we need now is the ability to set up a simple strategy so one clik will set up an entry, target and stop like my present frontend. Slowly but surely......
 
I know this may not be the right place to post this but...... did anybody else experience problems with book trader not refreshing level 1 data on the book trader unless you hit the re center button?

i started having these problem when i undated TWS
