IB Suggestions & Improvements

lol relax.... :)

trying to talk my brother-in-law out of trying to trade after he has been seeing me making decent money year after year all the while he works at some factory for $10/hr.

I told him I would help him eventhough it's against my better judgement. I set up an IB account for him and don't want him to start pushing buttons like a video game and lose his hard earned money in one shot.

As I won't be there to watch him I need a way to "limit" the max loss per day, as I cannot be sure he won't double down and move stops.

I checked on the IB help page but couldn't find anything....

I will keep looking

Try ZeroLine Trader http://www.zerolinetrader.com/ It is a front end for IB that is pretty cheap and has a setting for "enforce discipline rules" where you can define max loss and prevent a stop loss from being moved away from the price. There is also a 30 day free trial.

Cheers,

IB-do something about your front page on web. it eats 95% of CPU, on my P3 computer, while i'm using firefox and about 65% with IE, without any other applications running.
front page looks like christmas tree with all this flash stuff moving in all directions. because of all this, buttons on top(like fee, trading, etc) not shown at all(at least in IE)-after i get to the front page, i have refresh it, to be able see them. not all of your existing and potential customers have AMD 64 with few gig's of RAM. think about it.

For those who had issues with our home page CPU usage, please look now. On my machine, it has improved 40%. Still busy, but not frenetic.

fwiw I always have trouble with the IB Canada page. Not the homepage itself but trying to get other pages to load off some of the menus.

No troubles with IB USA page

if they could fix the closing price for bellies, that would be great. it shows some massive number when it closes.

a way to see what the margin is of a contract by a right click or put it in the contract description,if possible.

ehmm...it might just me but i have a hard time understandin' how much margin a contract requires when check margin; there are commas that don't really make sense [to me] and many zeros that don't add up...maybe I am missin' somethin' and some1 can explain that to me, still, I'd like to see orderly numbers that I can comprehend not a mess like it is now.

thx

I'm not sure what you're talking about, perhaps you can be more specific. See the attached, I whited out my equity with loan value but this is for an after hours ES june Future. Seems straight forward to me.

this is what i really want to see.

i love book trader, but it just doesn't have the features of bracket trader :(

i love the way with book trader, i can configure it to make a bracket on limit order entry. that's good

what is a pain with book trader is MOVING a limit order and a stop order once my long is filled.

for example, my common bracket with Dow is that i have a stop set 10 pts below my limit entry, and a limit sale (for first contract) at +7 points

what would be nice if it book trader had a hotkey/button option programmable so that once in a trade one could move your stop (tick by tick) and/or your targeted limit orders

bracket trader allows you to do this.

theonly way to do it in book trader that i can figure out is to manually change it in the TWS, which is slow and clunky.

a simply way to move your stops (which i sometimes move in btw, but never out) in and adjust your limits with a BUTTON or something woudl be awesome

seriously.

i love the rapid fire nature of book trader, but it just needs a little more flexibility.
