So, if IB is shit according to you, what broker/platform do you recommend?
Can't really recommend any broker. Since I left IB 10+y ago, I've only been working with clearing houses.
But what IB is selling as "discount" is easily matched by other brokers regarding fees and frontends. Since Petterfy left IB has become a real life version of "The Office"

I know few very decent person family person who are super rich and wanted to open account at IB, and one of them is my family member and IB complaince dept has rejected to open account for them.
And all of them are with Charles Scwhab, ETrade and TS now, and IB lost their Business. However for Peterffy Ad, i think it looks cool and nothing wrong.

IB's niche is asset managers. Just because I'm not using them doesn't mean I don't know what's going on. I do this for a living and have a couple of friends who are using IB for their business...and they are cursing for years already.

IB were ruffled a few feathers (about $26 million) by FINRA in August 2020 when they were found to have failed to maintain an adequate anti-money laundering (AML) program, so one can imagine their compliance department has been walking on eggshells since then.
There is a difference between actively running a business on a daily basis and coming in once in a while to talk to managers and bag in some dosh.
I've used IB when he was still active and they were still making markets via Timber Hill. I had a guy I could call 24/7 in case something went wrong which I consider to be normal for professional clients since so much more is at risk. Today you have to be really big to get that from them.
I left them when a glitch in their price feed caused an unjustified margin call and left my account mid 6 digits in the red for almost a week until they figured out what went wrong.
