Hi
It seems that server outages, especially after important economic data releases or sudden market movements, have become fairly common at IB.
I use three different ISPs and all three connections experience the "TWS purple outage" concurrently during at least the last six months.
Do any forum members using IB TWS/data have had similar experiences? Any solutions or workarounds? Since the outage occurs at the IB end, having one's own leased line won't help, will it?
Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions.
I get "market data connect lost" message a couple of times during the trading day. My internet is generally reliable ATT fast fiber. Not sure what it causing it.
Thanks for the reply. I run many separate data feeds and also a different brokerage platform on the same network. None of them have the data outtages at the same time as IB. So I'm pretty sure it's IB's servers. The outtages are brief and typically reconnect within a few seconds. There is no major interruption to trading but it occurs almost daily. It's interesting to hear other people's experiences on the topic. BTW overall I'm very happy with IB (particularly the API interface). This is just an unusual hiccup.
If it occurs daily rest 100% assured it is not IB. I run IB gateway daily and there are no disconnects, not in the past 2.5 months anyway.
In case you talk about TWS there is a daily reset (time depends on the IB server you connect to) which lasts a short time but even during that time you can submit orders and get fills, it is only that the data feed in TWS may reset for a moment. That's at least been my own experience though I am using the gateway now for a while rather than TWS.
