IB Secure Device

I really have to underline here I consider an opt-out possibility absolutely needed.

And yes, I am totally aware of modern exploit methods.

- EDIT -
Thanks Salvatore, ok

I provided incorrect information, I apologize. We WILL allow an opt out.

Customer can sign a waiver accepting responsibility for any security issues in their account.

Excellent! I am not too worried about my computer being compromised. Hate the extra steps.

IB Salvatore,

Thanks. Please keep us informed on what decisions are made regarding API users. There are plenty of ways you can make it more secure for API customers than it currently is without basically making it impossible to have a fully unattended trading machine. I could even live with if there was something you had to do once a week.. but having to manually restart daily due to the TWS having to shut down once a day is a major problem.
I was going to say that. If we could launch our TWS and API Sunday and not worry about it until after Friday's close, it wouldn't be a big deal. But those of us on West Coast time, we would have to wake up quite early every day to launch our programs (currently, using TWSStart to autolaunch).

Will we be allowed to get the security device and opt out later if we decide we don't like it?

Are the login devices portable and useable on more than one PC so I am not required to trade and access account management from only one PC? I for sure do not want a USB device.

A related question - if you opted out in the beginning, could you then opt in later if desired?

Furthermore, will be allowed to temporarily opt out. Most of the time, the security device won't cause me much inconvenience, but I'd like to be able to opt out when I travel.

Thanks for implementing this idea. I've been using the device now for several years to transfer funds. The only thing I don't like about it is the smallish keys. I think this is an outstanding idea.

Do I understand correctly that I will simply continue to use my existing security device?

I got 1 of my device about 1 year ago an it was a very small (size of 2 quarters) one and the keys are a bit hard to press.

The newer device I got about 2 months ago was a newer version, and about the size of a credit card.... this one is a bit easier to handle.

either way, I'd rather have to press the smallest keys than getting my accounts wiped out.
