IB retail pit access or not ???

I am subscriber to a specific educational service. Those guys are always testing and researching whatever comes up, patterns, trading techniques, technology. A few weeks ago I heard that RJ OBrien has an electronic order entry platform which they have been testing for a few weeks now. They have been able to scalp sugar, cocoa, cows, beans, corn, wheat and natural gas with it - with instant reports back.

I wonder if any insomniacs have any experience trading on the Liffe. They seem to have cocoa, coffee, wheat, and sugar - and IB provides plenty of simulated order techniques.

But I betcha that my data service provider (Tradestation) does not offer the quotes ....

ktm - I think a conditional order is basically the same.

I can't think of which data to base an agricultural future on though - let's say Corn. But I haven't had time to think about it too much yet.

I usually daytrade the ES. and switch to SPY on higher time frames. I have traded the SPY off of the ES and have always been happy with it.
 
Having worked on the floor, I saw some pretty lousy fills on stop orders. Pit brokers are sharks - if they see the stop hit the "fill em and bill em" policy goes into effect.

That aside, can anyone comment on the slippage/quality of fills via IB in the grains?
 
I can see your point, but I remember when I had a managed futures account, those guys probably figured that a stop had too much slippage as well and ran a $100 premium on future option into a approx. $20,000 loss per contract.
If slippage is part of the game, fine, but one has to be nuts to put on a position without stops. I really don't understand why people would try to justify this.
Oh well, different strokes for different folks.
 
Looking to trade the (floor based) CAD options w/ IB - anyone know if they are available??

IB website doesn't list as avail but I can pull up data lines and an order ticket. I'll giving it a go when the floor opens this week but would like to hear from anyone who's traded the CAD or other FX options through TWS.

Nice also to hear from someone at IB about whether this is avail.

(With US eventual withdrawal from Iraq my bet it USD rallies against CAD at some point - be itchin to sell some bear spreads.)
