Buy and sell orders for different accounts with common beneficial ownership or control that are entered with the intent to negate market risk or price competition shall also be deemed to violate the prohibition on wash trades. Additionally, no person shall knowingly execute or accommodate the execution of such orders by direct or indirect means.
Every exchange - including options and futures - has similar language. It's not the wash sale for tax purposes - it's the negates risk issue. IB will be compelled to report it to FINRA. I suspect there is more to this story that has been omitted.
