IB order question(newbie with IB)

I close my equity option trades using the close position feature to set the order and adjust to what I want. Do I have to use the close order feature from the menu if I start doing es, and nq trades? Or can you just do them right off the screen and it is automatically recognized as offsetting?

You can close your positions right off of the screen. Make sure the position column shows 0 after your order is filled and you can be reasonably sure that you have closed your position. As long as your order actually offsets your position it will be recognized as offsetting.
 
That made sense to me, but I wanted to make sure. I had to run or would have called in and asked, and I am having problems with the chat function on my computer.
