Like that prior outage, the losses customers suffered due to this outage today is really unfortunate. But online trading has its perils and unfortunate circumstances will occur. What's inexcusable though, is that now that IB has restored data and fixed the issue that caused this problem today, like last time we'll here nothing about what went wrong or what they did to resolve it. Thus we have no idea if this was just a band-aid quick-fix, or a solid resolution that will prevent it from happening again.
In other words, traders beware.
I have also traded with them for years, and really only had bad troubles with them recently. Today was bad, and few weeks back crossed bid/ask horrible during volume spikes. Today, my e signal lvl 2 and TS charts were correct throughout the day. Forunately, my stops at IB did trigger, but trying to get long the late pop was not possible. Orders entered through e signal wouldn't fill if there was no data in the TWS workstation, even though the order would appear in TWS.
Unbelievable that the IB attack dogs haven't shown up and started shouting down anyone who suggests that IB is anything other than God's Gift to traders.
In Canada, IB is still the only solution. Not the best one, the only one for people who want to execute trades in multiple markets from one account. You guys who have a choice are lucky.

Yes, I agree, probably there will be no differrence in reliability. In principe I am satisfied with IB but can I bitch a bit openly? I ended yesterday at break even on stops and before the outage it was my BEST DAY during this year. In fact if I will quit before outage it will be my second best day ever.
