IB - No Data ?

Quote from makloda:

What I have always been wondering: Why does IB lock us into _having_ to use their data feed exclusively. Why not open up a plug-in architecture in TWS so I can subscribe to 1-2 additional vendors and switch feeds when needed. Just seems like common sense to me.

Not going to happen. TWS is not built to use another feed.

You should be running at least 2 quote vendors at all times anyway. Or know where to get RT quotes in an emergency.

If this kind of TWS failure rate continues, I am going to have to start using bracket orders (buy/sell/stop) for even scalp & day trades (as rediculous as that sounds).

Wow, I just got data. What a miracle. Thank the force IB is my backup and not my primary broker. Read the fine print with IB. YOU DO need a backup broker to be using IB. They keep proving it again and again. They are unstable and they know it.

Remember, when IB gets flaky like today, take the rest of the day off. Maybe a week, for them to get their act together again.

Maybe the FutureTrade acquisition will yield an open data architecture. Petterfy announced during the last conference call they will release that platform to all IB customers within "2-4 months". But maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up too high.

Wellcome to IB Airlines. As you are aware flying is not a perfect science and we recommend you simultaneously fly on another carrier to avoid injury and death.

Have a nice flight
