IB new forex spreads

Quote from MiamiHurricanes:

Anyone actively trading via IB IDEAL Pro FX notice that during quiet markets there is the mark of leaning on your position?

I have an undisclosed amount of live and quote only sources (above 3) and it seems that when my position is on, the music has stopped (i.e. market is not moving quickly) that there is a lean vs. my position. The most incredulous aspect of this is that I am not trading size...

I understand that this could be the heat/market psychology causing me to "see" this...

I have also seen the entire bid ask jump the second I enter a limit order.

Also, does anyone have any information on what extent that Timber Hill, LLC - related to IB plays in IDEAL Pro FX? For now, I assume that the are the primary lean masters behind the scenes if this is occurring.

Comments appreciated, thx.

No-one knows your position except you and there are multiple liquidity providers, so this couldn't happen.

TH are currently not making markets on IDEAL-Pro.

RE TH, when the Exchange List under the Summary tab of the Executions window indicates IDEALPRO, what does that mean then? Typically I see IDEALPRO as well as the banks that provide liquidity listed...

I'm not totally sure without seeing it and cross-referencing it with your executions. Could be another customer.

On the executions page, you see the end destination (route) for your order. If we route to UBS, you will see UBSFX. If the trade crosses internally against another client order, you will see IDEALPRO or in some cases perhaps IBFX (there is no practical difference; it naming depends on routing details that are strictly technical in nature; there has never been a need to spend time on this detail)

2 Recent value-added developments in IB's TWS trading platform:

1. Total positions now show in the position field for spot forex. IMO, this makes it easier as opposed to referring to the Market Value sub-window in the Account window.

2. A bulletin went out today that contract style P&L/position tracking will be released within a few weeks. Currently there is account management on a currency line item basis as used in the interbank. This currency line item accounting facilitates trading around currency pairs more easily without necessarily closing the initial positions opened. For example, short USDJPY then buy EURJPY...

Request - When the contract style P&L/position tracking is added, would it be possible to keep the currency line item basis - interbank accounting? Perhaps there can be two tabs under the Market Value sub-window in the Account window or a setting in Configuration to allow each client to select the method of P&L/position tracking. thx.

I am not sure I understand.

In the new model, we will show the account window as it is, with currency trades decomposed into the resultant 2 currency balances. However, on the FX-trader window, we will provide a 'contract style' view that will permit traders to track their costs and pnl by currency pair.

The FX screen will be customized for FX traders in the same way that the Options-Trader screen is targeted for the option trading audience.

Yeah IB was Live Testing this and it showed up in PNL all of a sudden!!! I nearly shat myself at this Position suddenly appearing!! I checked execution logs and finally called and they said ---Yeah we are just testing ---it was a previous position you had --no big deal.

You are doing what I said you should do!! Fantastic. About TIME! (just kidding) Will the FX-Trader Window be totally separate? Or in the Portfolio section? (this morning the Portfolio section is working.

I LOVE what you guys are doing!! fantastic!!!

Will the new CME/Reuters clearing arrangement for cash forex change anything for IdealPro? Will it make it better?

CME/Reuters due in early '07.

Cool, if the FX focused interface is separate, great. I hope that it is in-line with what other firms have had for 6-8 years... Any screen shot previews?
