Well, thanks def and everyone else for this info. I had put this aside thinking it was a done deal....
I'll take a look at this again, and try to figure out what is the problem with my account and/or setup.
The spreadsheet I'm using is Q_zecution which was generously provided by AnomalyResearch, so it doesn't sound like that's my problem.

A little more info for you:
There should be a field on your market data line that gets populated with a formula that looks like the following when you request market data for the ES 200206 futures contract:
xxxxxxx|tik!idyyyyyyy?req?ES_FUT_200206_GLOBEX
This field should normally display a 0 - you need to select it and you can then see the formula in the "formula bar".

CFCO - was a market maker who used to provide autoX for IB customers. I heard they pulled out when they were not making money. It is a defunct route and am not sure why it is still there.
The Timber Hill desitination will start Mid March (thats any day). The stocks in the indices are what TMBR typically trades. No real idea on size. Best guess is 100-5,000 shares depending on a number of factors.

Can Timber Hill "peek" at my orders and trade ahead of me before my order is executed?
No. Strict procedures prevent disclosure of your orders prior to their automatic execution by Timber Hill. Again, unlike some other specialists and market makers, with the Timber Hill Automatic Execution service, you will see your orders being executed immediately.

If I see Timberhill making a market in a particular stock does that mean that the stock is elligable for auto-ex? And if so, will IB provide a list of all the stocks that Timberhill makes a market in, sort of like the way of finding out whether a stock is shortable through IB right now?

there are 411 stocks right now but the roll out will be gradual. for a list of the stock the TMBR is a market maker, play with this site.

Well, problem solved. I was able to send an order with no problems.
It turns out that I "fat fingered" my exchange in the line I was sending to post the order. Because I was sure that IB wouldn't work with a FUT acct, I never bothered to review my inputs for errors...
Lesson learned!And a big thank you! to everyone for the suggestions and the help.
I'm looking for an easier way to enter orders rapidly, and using the rapid order entry, you have to type in the price manually. Is there a way to, lets say, load in a price, and then use up and down arrow keys to adjust it up or down (so as to change with the market in fast conditions) and then hit buy or sell? that functionality would be great.
is it possible to do something like that with the excel link? i'm new to IB, so any help appreciated.
Overall, it's a great program, great brokerage, and the commissions can't be beat!

Use the hot keys. You can program in both small price increments and big price increments. You can also transmit your order using a hot key.
Sorry, just reread your post and realized that you meant rapid order entry. I can't see any way to change price using the rapid order entry other than typing it in.
