Just out of curiosity, are you running Zone Alarm? If so, are you allowing javaw.exe to "act as a server" so it won't block UDP packets?

I am not running a software-based FireWall, but I am running a hardware-based one.

If UDP packets were being blocked, _NOTHING_ would work.

I tried using GLOBEX as the exchange and that worked, thanks! Also emailed IB cust service and they sent me back the wrong instructions - typical. I too have the problem with the disconnect when there is a bulletin.

Can this be done intraday? Could I transfer funds between a futures and stock accounts back and forth depending on what instruments I want to take a position in, or would my daytrading margin be set at the beginning of the day?

The only thing that I would like to keep of the tool bar is the visual representation that there is a "bulletin" of some sort - I would like some warning that the system may not be functioning correctly.

Yes, I would like that too....perhaps a more "minimalized" toolbar. Big friendly icon/buttons with words and pictures is all well and good for some, but for those who know the platform and trade every day, monitor space is at a huge premium. I for one would prefer an "unfriendly" but still fully functional toolbar.

I'd suggest they flash the View choice on the menu bar back and forth between normal and red background (slowly - no more than every 5 seconds). Easily seen, and takes no additional space. If this can't be done (I don't remember what properties are on individual menu items), they could flash the color of the main application title bar. I think you can do this to the minimized task-bar button, too.

Speaking of that, would anyone else like to see them change the main app title bar and the minimized taskbar button caption to show the account number first? When you have multiple stock accounts, and multiple TWS sessions minimized, it's a pain to figure out which one to restore since the button only has room to display "Stock and...".
