I patiently waited to see if others were logged out prematurely this morning, and I guess it wasn't just me. I've been using the stock version of TWS for 8 months w/o too many problems, but today was my first day with the futures version.
My first trade I decide to go short 1 contract of the NQ mini to test the waters, and placed a protective stop a few points above for two contracts. 10 seconds later I get logged out. oh @#@#!, my first trade and this happens! I wasn't too worried since my stop would get me out and go long one contract if the market reversed. When I got logged back in, I was still short one contract, but the position had moved against me 17 points. So rather than being up 13 points, I was down 17 because my stop didn't fill, and I wasn't long 1 contract. I bailed and have quit trading for the day with a $350 loss.
Is this normal for the futures version of TWS? I figure it will take 146 trades to make this loss back up if I'm saving $2.40 per side over the competition. And this is only my first day! I did get a message saying they were having internet connection problems. Is this a new thing, or does it happen often with the futures version?![]()

Now you ran into this stupid problem just with your first trade. We discuss this with Def for weeks. Currently stops are held on IB´s server and work fine - unless IB server gets disconncted from Globex quote stream. IB server needs Globex quote stream to trigger the stop and send it to the exchange.
