Hi all, I was just wondering whether anyone is using or have had success running HFT strategies (not UHFT, or sub-second) using the Interactive Brokers datafeed? If not, which ones would you recommend from a cost/benefit point of view?
success running HFT strategies (not UHFT, or sub-second) using the Interactive Brokers datafeed?
.IB's data latency is 300+ms
TT's at Advantage futures (when TT is working properly) is around 60ms
Direct connection is 3-4ms
(talking Globex here)
So if you are going to do any speed sensitive spreading you can't use IB's tools
I don't think anyone at 5 ms would consider themselves low latency. There are several cheap off the shelf solutions that can beat that. Low I would say starts at 50-70 micros. Ultra low is below 15. Not many people are sub 5.
And, as other people point out it's not like there are just fewer opportunities at slower speeds. They are completely gone. Like, all pure arb disappears by around 15 micros. Quick stat arb is pretty much gone by 70. After that you are pretty much in the same boat as everyone else. Your latency doesn't really matter and mostly likely won't improve your performance at all.
I do not totally understand your needs totally but you should look at
DTN IQFeed or Tradier. DTN is good and cheap and Tradier is free and they compete with IB.
