IB compatable platforms: Opinions??

Interested in recomendations on IB compatable platforms. TraderWorkstation constantly locks up. I am looking for simple charting with order management. Opinions please....

Are you sure you don't have any resource problems? For example, you might find another 512K of memory might do wonders.
 
Thanks Def, I have 2 gigs of memory. Tech support said my internetconnectionis not fast enough because TW reports in so many times a second. I have fast DSL, so not sure how to solve it...

Trayo .... What do you mean by locks up??? Does TWS just lose
the conn. and just sits there or the pages freeze and you cant
close TWS???

What operating system?

How old is the DSL modem?? one yr?? two yrs?? what??
Ask your DSL connection provider to test your connection to
see if you are dropping ATM packets.

When the lockups happen can you go to other websites at
normal speed??

Are you starting TWS from the IB server or are you starting up
with the standalone version.

Which version??

YES, THE PAGES FREEZE. IF I THEN TRY TO REDUCE AND EXPAND THEM, THEY TRY AND DRAW AND FILL OUT, BUT SUPER SLOW, OFTEN WITH ONLY PIECES OF THE CHART DISPLAYING. I DO NOT THINK I AM TOTALLY LOOSING CONNECTION. IT TRYS TO DO THINGS, BUT SUPER HAM-STRUNG. IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE THE LONGER TWS IS RUNNING, OR MORE PAGES OPENED. I HAVE NO TROUBLE CLOSING TWS.

THE MODEM IS CLOSE TO 3 YEARS OLD. IB TECH SUPPORT RAN A TEST, THE RESULTS OF WHICH I HAVE ATTACHED. I WILL HAVE THE DSL PROVIDER PERFORM THE TEST YOU SUGGEST. I HAVE A DELL ROUTER IN THE SYSTEM WHICH IS ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD AND HAS ALWAYS WORKED WELL. I HAVE NOTICED HOWEVER, THAT OFTEN TIMES WEBPAGES TAKE A WHILE TO OPEN. ITS AS IF THE SYSTEM IS HAVING TROUBLE LOCKING ONTO THEM. ONCE FOUND, THEY OPEN QUICKLY.

YES, SAME SPEED AS USUAL.

Are you starting TWS from the IB server or are you starting up
with the standalone version.

I HAVE THE VERSION WHICH RESIDES ON MY COMPUTER, AND IT IS LATEST UPDATED VERSION.

THANKS, I DON'T USE BASKET TRADER, BUT PERHAPS TURNING OFF "AUDIT TRAIL" FEATURE WILL HELP ANYWAY? I WILL TRY.

THANKS MEDVED AND RCJ. SEEMS TO BE A CONSENSUS ON WHAT WORKS WITH IB. I'LL CHECK THEM OUT.

IT'S A BIT UNNERVING TO HAVE TWS FREEZE IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRADE...
