Baloney. I had a problem which was reported by others regarding futures prices disappearing. IB said they were addressing it, and it appears they have...I have not had it for a few weeks, and I have not seen anyone else mention it either.
If you have a specific problem bring it up.
I have had no long lasting problems of any type.

As far as the stop goes, when people have expressed this problem in the past it usually has been do to an afterhours type of trade where you have to elect stop orders to trigger outside of regular hours. You might check to see how your stops are configured.
I'm not having any of the problems you mention, and am using the latest version of both java and TWS.

I feel your comment 'baloney' is inappropriate. Others have problems that I have not personally experienced but I do not think they are talking 'baloney'
Blowing through stops is one of the issues. As for the others there have been enough posts form myself and others pointing out a) the problem, and b) that they have informed IB, so I can't be bothered to reiterate them again here or to IB.
I am not anti IB, they have a good product offering, but issues like repeatedly blowing through stops (with 'after hours' ticked) are a serious issue, mentioned by many on this board. The rep I dealt with did not seem to think that this was a serious issue and as far as I am concerned tried to fob me off.
In fairness to IB when I have brought things to the attention of senior management the issues have been looked at, but I am getting rather weary of doing this.
Bottom line is that IB is let down by TWS unreliability and buggy upgrades beta tested on clients who sometimes are forced to upgrade against their will. Fix that and it would be difficult to fault them in many areas. I am not a programmer but Interactions with developers for TWS compatible products indicates that there are real issues in this area.
To al those who are going to come in and say if i don't like it I can go elsewhere, don't bother as; 1) I am looking at this 2) I would have thought bringing problems that detract from the overall offering to the attention of the company in the hope that they would be fixed and thus reduce customer desertion would be a better first approach than going elsewhere if one is happy with pretty much everything else.
Likewise for all you that never experience any problems, great, lucky you, and likewise, don't bother. I have for example never had any problems with Sierra but see many problems highlighted on their support board. Sierra is one of the most stable reliable apps I have vere used, but I don't think the people bringing these problems are complaining losers who can't trade and blame everybody else, I just think they have an issue that I fortunately do not have.
BTW most of my (and it seems others) current problems came when I upgraded from 831 - upgrading created the problems, unless of course my ISP chose that exact moment to downgrade it's service............

most of the problems that cropped up in the complaints the other week were related to quotes and programming as well as management took a very proactive look into the issue. for the record, the data feed drops had nothing to do with the version of the tws.
stops: if someone complains about a stop, the service desk looks at the audit trail, time and sales and tries to determine whether or not it should have been triggered. I'm not stating the previous poster (ozzy) is wrong but it is our experience that most complaints about blown stops have to do with how they were entered and/or a misunderstanding of how they should be triggered. ozzy, if you would like us to further look into your case, send me a PM and I'll reply with details of who to contact on our help desk.
back to charts: you can try out the beta from the browser based TWS (ie. you do not have to download to overwrite your stand alone version of the TWS). For those interested, I am sure IBsoft would like to hear your feedback. You'll see that given constructive feedback, the offering will continue to vastly improve.

The resources IB puts into all these things (which are 100% useless to a professional trader with data etc aqcuired from companies that specialise on them) could be used in a better way. For example to lower commissions or making the platform more stable. Also introducing new things all the time seems to cause problems in the platform.
While IBs actions in these areas may be tempting to newbies they are contrary to the interests of a professional high volume trader. The fact that IB has chosen this route makes me (and I know others too) contemplate changing broker.

I have never had any problems when TWS was a no frills execution platform. Now my quotes occasionally disappear completly along with my p/l and I have to log back in or reenter all the quotes. I also have a problem with TWS not wanting to shut down. I have to go to task manager to shut it down. For the first time since joining IB im beginning to have serious doubts.
