IB Chart Feature

Quote from riskarb:

IB charting is useful if you're satisfied with two days of 5min intraday data. You can chart a week's intraday at 30mins, which is of little use if you're running any studies, which I do not. IdealPRO is not chartable with IB's native charting. The upside is that you're sure that the charts represent executable data points. I think it absurd that dailies are limited to line charts. I can do without the intraday stuff, give us daily bars and candles.

I agree. If you pull up a months worth of data ---it comes in line charts as well (I think it is 60 or 30 min data). No reason they cannot do Bar Charts and add daily data. They probably will.

IB should buy TT :)

TT has added charting in the newerst version. They are going to have a complete package. They have quote window as well.

Two questions:

1. What is TT?

2. For those who use Trade Station, why do you need an independent data feed--or do you? Isn't Trade Station self contained?

Doesn't TradeStation contain a trading platform, realtime data, charting--everything you need?

Thanks

TT is http://www.tradingtechnologies.com/xtrader.asp

Frankly I like TWS alot better than Xtrader.
Me too.
At least, IB has been playing open cards for years now. Simply try to wring some information out of TT. Go to both IB and TT websites and you'll see for yourself.

TT's platform is extremely one sided as compared to IB's TWS + API. Announcements don't always seem to be seeing saylight with TT. (Perhaps a trickle too much with IB :) )

Performance? Nobody seems to know for sure. What you see is what you get?

How do other traders feel about QT compared to some of the other pay charting sites? I.E. Esignal, Aspen Graphics, etc.

QT is perfect for my needs. And QT Support is second to none.

Using IB's feed w/ QT is as good or better than QCharts, Real Tick, Esignal etc.

So why pay $100-300 a mth when you can pay $7 a mth?
