FYI... you can also just go with the security code card

Since the above link requiring phone for the amount >=1M, I am not going to send >=1M to IB account.

Well... as far as I know, any broker needs to get your details to open an account, which is current address, social security number, and yes... current phone number. That is necessary within the banking regulations...
Dear-
Attached is the photo asking iphone/Android for IB login.
1) Probably customer should leave IB, in case he does NOT use cell. Is it true?
2) Possibly he does not want to release phone number for his phone, even if he uses phone.
3) If other brokers in US asks phone number together, he should leave US stock market? Possibly forever?
Appreciated if anyone shows me relevant explaining link or shows me any law/code/... .
PS) I understand that we should give SSN for opening a new brokerage account.
Should IB customer give phone to IB? Is it under law?

If you fuxx up your account even beyond your collateral, put up, I, as IB customer would definitely want IB to have your phone number, verified address, photo ID, in order to go after the funds you owe them. Nothing personal against you, just the "don't fuck it up for everyone else" principle.
Of course I should give address in case I owe money to brokers for loan.
Possible Lawsuit requires address in the court. NO OBJECTION at all.
If I were chair of IB, then I may say "No address no customer".

It is the law to keep name and address for long time (at least 100 years) inside broker's file. No one argues it.
It is the duty of customer for receiving paper mail. Any court judge will think like me.
However, I may fly abroad frequently so that I cannot receive any phone signal.
I guess it is NOT duty of customer to receive PHONE SIGNAL.
I may go hiking at Everest. Court judge may say "You do not HAVE TO receive phone under current law".
