IB Asia market access

We could do what boom does but there are many factors including cost, priority, resources and demand. It's on the radar but will honestly be driven by institutional demand. Given what you are surely giving up on FX, stamp and commission, I suspect you'll get a much better deal trading the SSF's in Korea which last I checked had solid liquidity.

You are completely wrong with your assumptions. FX, taxes, and commissions of a long term investment in Korean stocks are literally negligible compared to capital gains tax cost you incur annually on SSFs, not to mention the gigantic trading and rollover cost on most SSFs, not to mention that SSFs are only available on a few large cap stocks. Setting aside that Korean SSFs are not available to U.S. investors at IB.

Do you know of any timeline when IB makes a decision whether or not to offer Korean stocks any time soon, like in the next 1-2 years? thanks a lot!

I'll agree to disagree on SSFs for those wanting to actively trade but I did forget about that nasty little bit about US restrictions. In any event, it is on the radar but there as mentioned there are a number of items we need to attack to make it a fair offering and client demand will ultimately drive the priority.
