IB API disables TWS UI?

That is all bullshit.

The version of java doesn't matter (I use 1.6_04 and I have had not work and does work (and has been working for the last few hours)).

The version of TWS doesnt matter (I had failures from 882 to 884 and 882 is currently working).

There is a fuck up in the Back end server software and when we make a data request (not backfill, data because i tried disabling backfill) then the backend server sends TWS an arse-fucking command. TWS takes it like a good little boy. And says "goodbye."

Louis is full of shit. I tried 1.5 and it freezes it still.

My chat log:

Louis C: Hello, this is Louis. How may I help you?
Me: since the reset every time I start ensign charting TWS freezes
Louis C: yes, the API seems not working fine with java 1.6
Louis C: try to downgrade it to java 1.5, thanks
Me: it worked last week last night and all day today
Me: now I need to downgrade?
Louis C: yes, seems downgrade works
Louis C: and programmers is checking this issue now

This is messed up... still going on after many hours. Should we be scheduling a day off for tomorrow? It might be interesting to see how the markets behave with no IB traders in the mix...

It's probably a "standard" suggestion for when they don't know WTF the problem is. Kind of like when I call the cable company about an outage and they always want me to reboot. As if I didn't have sense enough to try that BEFORE I called them.

This is so wrong... many IB customers are pro traders operating daily in multiple markets with some serious money. This is really fu*king things up... I have to changed everything to manual today juggling with all the different entry and stop levels... this is getting stressful...

Gee... this is serious business and TWS is not a toy... beef up the QA process IB!!!! Realize that every single mistake in a code roll out could cost aggregated sum of many millions of mistake related dollars to your customers!!!!

Same problem with me, but I didn't change anything at all! Even Java is still 6 update 3! Doesn't work under both Windows and Linux machine... :(

Laputa,

Dude they just don't care - issues similar to this are par for the course with IB. Remember it's all your fault here (as per the waiver we all agree to when we use IB as our broker). They get the benefit of making money regardless of how it affects us.

I am sincerely sorry to hear about your stresses today. As long as you use IB as your broker though - this is part of business. They simply do not care one itsy bitsy fractal of a damn.

My best regards,
MK
