Yeah, you are right... I didn't scroll down far enough! First headline out was 10:00:03. I'm even further impressed! I've got another few weeks left on my evaluation but this is looking promising so far...

I would say yes at this point based on a couple of days observation. I'm sure there are always going to be stories that DJ newswires or Bloomberg will break first but it is pretty good for the price in my opinion. If I was more of a news trader I would probably get a bloomie, but for now I think this is a decent solution.

"Upanddown, how much are you paying for the reuters news per month and which platform is that? In your opinion is Thomson Financial News worth the subscription and any better than DJ Newswire?

I have DJ Newswire and would really like to compare the two.

I believe thomson is better then Reuters, but the thomson one is not really a news service. Its a whole research platform including real time data feeds from US stocks to futures to world stocks, Goldman sacks reports and so on. You can try it for free. Since reuters was bought by
thomson , they will integrate Reuters into thomson. Have to check what we are paying, but we will discontinue Reuters feed. They told us they are going to ad trading execution in the platform.

As far as Dowjones news. I believe its the fastest, but expensive and web based gives me some concerns.

How about Reuters Fundamentals? Iâm interestedespecially, esp. itâs global coverage. Anyone have any experience with this? They claim to do solid fact checking and analysis, and package it up in a nice, standardized format. What kind of confidence can I have in the information that they provide? Errors in calculation, etc.
How comprehensive is their information? What are the cons in using this as your exclusive source of information? What further due diligence would someone need to do outside this?
And finally, the front-end: howâs their standardized reporting? howâs IBâs GUI for this? Is it a âwork in progressâ?

Last point â theyâre missing some companies, would be nice if they covered all of themâ¦what about IPOâs?

PS - first post. Hi all, I'll find the thread to intro myself... don't know if I would ever consider myself a trader, but I look forward to getting some education here and putting it to good use.

Did you have a trial with Reuters Fundamentals you can have write here about your feedback?
Also you could evaluate Equis Reuters/Quotecenter. I have the Base + North America packages.

I guess you're asking me... nope, I'm brand new with this. Once my account is open this week I'll sign up and give it a shot. I'll be able to tell you what I think of the front-end, but nothing else. That's the stuff that I want to know.

^Old (but still valid) info, here is an update (this is a top google result):

I just subscribed to reuters news feed on IB, and have been VERY disappointed that I can't get general market news, like see the attachment....

I don't even have to pay for the reuters general news at think or swim, nor for CNBC live tv (which I use for econ announcements)

It seems as though on IB I can only get info on a share I already own, and since they are small cap, there aren't any news!
No general news = no info on what moves s&p index...

I can't use it for research, but you see, because of that you will also have to subscribe to reuters fundamentals (it contains same data as Morningstar, which is free), and other and other and other and other things, ultimately the low commissions at IB are eaten up by all the mkt data subscriptions...

But I must point out that my executions at IB have always been top quality.

(stay away from ChoiceTrade, as for instance yesterday (to check their execution, I used only a $70 position) the mkt price was 3.14, I put a limit order at 3.15, and couldn't get it, then had to put it at 3.18 to fill when price never touched or crossed that price..... + other bucket-shop like moves)

IB's execution is great, commissions too, but the news feed is junk.

If you send a dollar into think or swim you can get a better news feed plus free pit audio from Ben at tradersaudio.

Or check out tradethenews. 150 is a bit pricey but you get 24 hour news events from all over the world.
