IB and Market Data Question

So If I want to trade options, am I suppose to pay $20 per month to get quotes?

I just switched firms...and I'm having a heck of a time assimilating

Quotes are free so long as your produce $30 in commissions each month.

So at $0.70 per contract you have to do about 43 contracts per month for free quotes. If you only do single lots @$1.00 per contract then you need do only 30 contracts.

Exchange fees do not count in the calculations so I've not included them.

That's the thing...I work for a broker/dealer and am a pro by definition. In practice, not so much.
