Understand IB is great for stocks and has a lot of support from the emini day traders. However I understand that for futures trading as a whole, IB is not very highly recommended. Is that true
For futures trading that is electronic IB is recommended by many. It has good fees, very fast execution, high reliability and supports a very wide range (ie lots of world markets).
The data you need to support your decisions is also free in many cases.
But
For pit-only traded futures IB does not currently have an offering. So, coffee, corn etc are not available. My understanding is that this is likely to change very soon --- check on the site and you'll find a thread discussing it.
